An ongoing battle

I decided to do a rapid detox off my methadone script in august of last year. I'm now glad that i'm off it but regret how fast i did it. I thaught this would be over within 3 weeks and i would feel better, how wrong i was. When a month had gone by and i was seriously depressed and anxious and just didnt feel comfortable in my own skin. I hit the bottle hard and with me having a drink problem before the methadone it came back with a vengence. And on top of that i started to abuse all different kind of prescription drugs, mainly opiate based ones and sleeping pills. Which has brought me to where i am today ashamed of myself for failing but really wanting to get clean now, i can't cope in this misery anymore but only i can change it and i'm ready for the battle ahead. After doing some research i soon realized that post acute withdrawal syndrome from methadone can last years so i misjudged the time limit to recover and this definately played a part in my failure i felt at the time that it would go on forever. I now know that drinking and taking prescription drugs will keep me sick and the only way forward is inner strength to beat this. I'm now ready, iv hit rock bottom i can't see any other way out to sort this problem so it's going to have to be inner strength. Iv made sure there is no pain killers in the house for me to abuse and i'm tappering off the sleeping pills. I really want to do this i don't want to be a failure any more, i want to make my family proud and i want a better life for myself. Nothing worth doing in life is pain free so i'm just going to have to be prepared for the pain of this journey.
