Am I Getting Worse?
My manias have increased in frequency and in magnitude. The last mania led me into full psychosis and hospitalizations. My disease is getting worse. I change medications all the time but the manias keep coming.

Probably all just part of trying to get your meds stabilized.
But maybe a question to ask your doctor?
I agree with Patti.....
It took me 3 years to find the right cocktail.... I'm not sure how long you've been working on it.... a lot of people are stabilized on a lot less time.... I was really med sensitive
The last time you were manic you were brought down fairly quickly with Haldol.... I worked in mental health for years Thor and during that time a forensic facility..... I have only EVER seen one person with bipolar disorder that also had a personality disorder that didn't find stability if they worked to find it.... Please never lose sight of 'we do have a treatable disorder'
I know it can seem like forever when we're going through the ups and downs of psych meds but you will find stability ….. Big squishy hug....xo
Spencer you've just come out of the hospital on a different med regimine, it's going to take time for that to kick in and your brain to get the full effect. Don't think yourself into a panic attack or worry yourself over something that may not be there. The problem is being worked on and that is the important part....your not just being stagnant and accepting thing as they are and not doing anything about it. Give yourself some time for this new Cocktail to kick in.
Also learning some new coping skills would be a really good idea for you. Its not always about meds, using as many tools in conjunction as you can is the best way to treat this disease. You'll find your stability, don't give up on that.
Take care.
Thor, agree with the above posts. The brain chemistry does not react immediately as pain killers do. We shall hope this is the right combo. Time will tell. Supportive and calming hugs.
Thanks for all the comments. I feel that I have been sliding downhill over the past couple of months. Roger on the new meds and the message of "just chill for a while". But this is a longer-term question, over the past 12 months, I have had 8 separate episodes. Before that, it was a lot less and a lot less severe. My worry here is about the future going forward. What will the next 12 months hold? In just two years, I have been hospitalized three times for about six weeks in total. I fear the future.
Thor, it really comes down to the right meds in the right combo. Had a friend, always went to mania for several years. Has now been stable for 7. Finally calls doc when symptoms first show up. Just take it day by day. Enough folks here have assured you it is chronic but treatable. Calming hugs.
My fears seldom want to listen to logic.
