along the path of living

I woke this morning and went to work. Things went ok today, thankfully.

I realized much of my reactions to others I need to own.

As well we are all owning and taking responsibly to a degree

of how we respond to our reactions. They can cause 'little mental storms'

or 'big mental storms' but in essence I am realizing those reactions are mine or ours

to catch...I was finding common ground with the others while working away

with them. I found that at times ocassionally someone would be 'spikey' but

I caught myself in thinking about how I was reacting to that...Could it have

just been a moment? Are some people having a bad day? Did I kind of react first

in a 'spikey' way myself that inspired their reaction? And some folks are just like that.

I found myself towards the end of the day feeling in the emotional context that

we're all working away together - and being considerate of each other and ourselves -

and dealing with those moments of dischord...so we're not alone in that :).

I came home from work - feeling a little cocky. But then I had deliveries in Silverlake

and then Venice and then came back home. I find myself more aware of how tired

I am having been awake since 300am this morning. Eventually I went to my bed.

So I am trying to sleep - and that engine within of wanting to feel connected

is bringing me to a new evening challenge. Of wanting to feel connected, of wanting

to be ok - and just along the path of living this is, I am realizing part of the way

the emotional water ebbs and flows. I reached out to my sister tonight who lives in London, UK.

We talked about things and she was so insightful. I am so grateful for the good things

in my life, it seems I am learning to step back and just appreciate the ocean's tides

as just being a natural part of coping, processing and living.

there is no royal we in taking ownership of reactions. even with identical reactions (if such is even possible) it is physically impossible for me to feel, much less own another person's reaction.

taking strictly personal ownership of my own reactions opens countless options on the actions to use in response to those reactions while simultaneously trusting and empowering others with the ownership of their own reactions.

Reading your reflections of human behavior from the day, and then reading your last sentence - that’s such a good summation of all the other thought processes of the day! We are all navigating as best we can, and when you can recognize human nature at face value and not internalize it so much, just part of the ebb and flow - then we can move forward with greater ease. And confidence! Not arrogance, but poised confidence! Join me next time on my Ted Talk!
