all pragmatic vs being selfish sometimes

sometimes I need to be selfish-

sometimes I need to just relax and give myself things

that give peace, joy, energy, beauty and good vibes to myself.

I guess this doesn't make sense for someone who speaks about self responsibility and keep on keeping on every day..
I just found myself really uncomfortable and angry today. I found myself finding every reason to appreciate
that we're all taking care of life and that I am living those perspectives that support it. But I came back to
my room and just felt locked and backed into the corner of my thoughts - so unleashing my spirit
and being selfish a little bit - has really given me a healthy wonderful and joyful feeling.
Tomorrow will be another day of work - and all chores are done for today - but right now
I am just enjoying the ride. Keep on keeping on.

To deal with my issues I’ve simplified my life and learned about my condition in real basic terms to better manage it and cope.

I think it's really important to take care of you first

You can't give away what you don't have

I hope that you and Bluey have a nice, peaceful eve ...xo

the entire "selfish" dialogue which i have heard my entire 70 years has yet to make sense to me, but then? ? ? my lead-in rhetoric on the selfish theme sprang from adults demanding children embrace adult sex with the enthusiasm of a geezer porno fantasy. the selfish dialogue which springs from church pulpits doesn't make much more sense to me. for the most part, i silently wander away from conversations containing that buzz word.

the one exception i make to the wandering away from that buzz word is when i sense i am in the presence of another soul who gains more gratification from helping others than they gain from self-indulgence. yes, i place myself in that category, as well. when i fail to take care of myself, i reduce the efficiency of the system by which i feel called to help others. i owe it to the powers that be and the world to take care of the gifts i have been given. calling others, "selfish" diminishes my open compassion for the people i am called to serve.

just opining. . . repeat, the cultural rhetoric on this buzz word confuses the unholies out of me. for sure, the word is over-used by warring factions. which right is the rightest right in the whole right pack?
