all is good
Hi everyone. It's so hot here in the south this week. The temperatures have been over 100 degrees all week. The heat in Misssissippi was awful. You could cut the humidity with a knife as my Dad would say. When you went outside it would take your breath. Why the heck go there you say? My husband likes to play the slots, I personally have a "little" problem with that, but hey he wanted to go and have a weekend away so we went. He had a really good time and thats what I wanted.
He has been a little emotional since we got back. It doesn't take much for him to cry, or me either. We had our grandaughter over night on Wednesday. She was taking a shower when we both paused and listen to her singing in the shower. She was singing Amazing Grace!!! and doing a good job of it. He just cried. I can remember all the first things since he was dianosed. To live long enough to see her born, to walk, to start school and to see her baptized. All of these have come to past. God has been so good, I know your first thoughts are why not my loved one? I can honestly say I don't know why things happen like they do. I do know that we will never know the answer this side of heaven. I think of all of you so often, I am concerned for each of you and your situations . I pray for you.
Steve saw the doctor on Wednesday and he will finish this round of Sutent, starting on Sunday and then POSSIBLY switch to Votrient the next round. I am so afraid of that but he must make the final decision. It could make his side effects less and he is willing to that chance. He can always go back to Sutent. He has been on Sutent since November of 2006. Can you believe that??? I am so nervous about switching I can't bear to even think about it!

Oh, I need to update all of you on Carey. The eleven year old with colon cancer. She had the HUGE surgery on the 11th of June. The doctors are very hopeful and she is at home in Houston with her family. She is a miracle, touched by the hand of GOD. This child is 11 years old and maybe weights 50 pounds. She needs to learn to eat more but she is still going!!! She has a long way to go and is really wanting to come back here to live. That is the goal, get back to being a preteen little girl. Tell Steve about my husband\'s good results with the Votrient, as he was one of the Phase III trial participants. He had 70% shrinkage and the side effects, though not pleasant, were deal-able until the last go round. He was on 800mg for first 4 months and then had a break (fatigue and low blood count). Then he was on 600 mg for five months. Arthritis took him off it finally. WHY do they want him to switch now? What was his dosage of Sutent? What were the side effects like? As you know I am researching all this stuff for my husband\'s upcoming decision for next treatment. Was he ever on Nexavar or Avastin?

As Carol says, you are truly an amazing lady. You are there for Steve in every way. \"Amazing Grace\" always brings special memories to me and tears, too. I am so glad Steve has been here to see your grandaughter make all those \"firsts\".
Thank you for the update on Carey. I hope and pray she continues to improve.
