AHHHHH
I'm tired of repeating myself but I'm so....EMOTIONAL! All of this is nothing positive for me and I feel depressed all the time! I'm hurt, I'm humiliated, I'm angry, I'm exhausted. Maybe it's no big deal. But if I had had this knowledge in the beginning I would never have even continued to look for my dream house. My fiancee's parents gave us money for a down payment on a house. They said that they had saved enough money for each of their three children to either go to school or to buy a house. It was money saved strictly to be handed over to the child of the moment when it was time. They also ended up co-signing for us. Joey made just under the amount required for us to get a mortgage alone. I mean just, like 0.3% to little. So we started looking for a house. The place we live in now is a dump. There is mold in the shower, the paint is peeling, there are nails poking up from the dinged and scratched hard wood floors. We looked for four months, I had our daughter, we took a break, then we continued to look for another four months. Finally we found something. So we go abouts doing what we have to do. We pay the house insurance, we pay the utilities, we pay the 1000 down in good faith, we pay the property taxes, we pay for the house inspection. We do almost everything we have to do outside of the final meeting with the lawyer. Then his parents tell us that they don't want my name on the title to the house. That hurts. I looked so hard for a house to find out that they want me to have none of it in my name. That way I have less rights. I'm mad. But we are already legally bound to this house so I don't have any choice but to leave my name off. Then comes the second bombshell. They want me to sign a contract relinquishing any rights I have to the house until they come off as co-signers. In other words, if Joey and I break up within the next 5-10 years, or if he gets sick and we can't make the payments, or any other reason, the house is sold and I don't see a dime out of it. If we were to split Marlow and I would end up on the street with our pockets empty and no where to go. I get that they are trying to protect themselves. But I'm humiliated. I put my heart into this house hunting. And when we move in I will be putting just as much effort into upkeep and care as their son. But I have no legal rights to the house if I sign this contract. And I can't not sign it since we are legally tied to the house and we need them to follow through on our end. Joey doesn't get it. He says I have nothing to worry about. That it will be my house as much as his. But it won't be. If Joey and I get married that contract is still in effect. So if we got married, and then four years later decided it wouldn't work, I walk away empty handed. I have no intentions of leaving him. But you never know what the future holds. This just really bothers me. And I have no one to talk to. I'm embarassed. So many people told me that this house would never be mine. And I brushed them aside and told them they were being silly. They were right. I don't want to face these people and let them know what a dupe I am. I'm just really depressed. I don't smile, I cry alot. I'm not in the least excited to move. I'm scared my attitude is going to affect my daughter. I barely eat. I don't know what to do.
