Agh - WTF?
So after 9 months and 40+ interviews I finally have a new job. The people are nice, the location is perfect, commute works out fine, and I can wear flip flops (first time ever at a job!). I bought a new boombox and listen to music, surf the net, and basically just hang out all day. I man the phone that barely rings, do a little light shipping here and there, but there's really not much to do. You'd think I would finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief and be happy again. So why aren't I? Seriously, WTF? I woke up this morning and was in a terrible state. I showered, then burst into tears. I cried for a little while, then picked myself up and got my shit together. I'm having a serious case of "grass is greener" going on. Like, in everything - life, work, love...and I feel seriously guilty about the love part. I KNOW my bf rocks. I KNOW this. He's cute, funny, supportive, gentle, easy going, smart, and a great cook. We both baby talk the cats. We have a perfect balance of things in common/things only the other person likes. We never fight. So what is my fucking problem? Am I turning into my psycho sister in law who always has to stir up drama? Why can't I just say "Yeah, things are really good - coming up our 7th year together - awesome!" and leave it at that? Why do I have irrational, nagging voices whispering "You could just start over again..." It really upsets me. I don't actually want to leave him or anything, we're honestly happy. Except for me feeling INSANELY guilty for even thinking this, much less WRITING it :( What is it about this "Seven Year Itch"? I always thought that was just a myth, but I swear it's real. I saw an ad for a TV show the other day where they basically take couples who have been together for a long time and basically make them break up or get married. Is that what it comes down to in the end? Do couples reach a point like that? I really hope not, because marriage scares the crap out of me, to be honest. It's like being in handcuffs for the rest of your life. Can't we just enjoy the status quo and STFU? Like we have been? Ugh now I'm all depressed and guilty, even though I really haven't done anything wrong. I know I don't want to break up because if I even think of it I basically lose it. Deep down I know he's right for me and wish I could just accept this and move on. It's not like he's in a huge rush to get married. Maybe I'm just having an "approaching 30" breakdown? I'm going to start crying if I don't stop dwelling on this shit. I gotta go.
