after the volunteering event
I just came home from a volunteering event earlier today. We distributed a lot of food and medical services to those in need for absolutely no charge!!.
The smiles on these folks’ faces were so great! But there was a variety of people, with varying natures.. It was gratifying.
I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been thinking about neurodiversity in our communities lately (and my own.)
How that reality has informed and inspired our humanity, culture, thought and art. Today while there with the people
I also thought about this. A friend of mine a long time ago talked harshly about those in need using social services
as a ‘sucking on society’. I think for him that was a very simplistic, convenient way of dealing with the issue.
There were so many different kinds of people there, with varying backgrounds and stories and natures.
The vast majority were so grateful. Some were perhaps ill mentally and some in fact a bit were flagrant.
I tried to offer dignity when passing out 'food stuffs' with a “ Happy Easter” or a “Feliz Pasqua.”
The organizers were really doing great work.
It all just helped me think about my perspective.
He’s been implacable and I’ve had to ignore his cries. He’s so sensitive
and wonderful but because he is so needy, it makes me think of parents with
children who start having this kind of behavior and then have the frustration
and confusion that their love is not enough for their child. I’ll pray for him and on this.

Regarding Blue's crying and begging, a couple of things come to mind, based on experiences I had with my cat, Dylan. I used to travel a lot, and when I would return, his meowing would drastically increase for several days before he returned to his normal talkative self (he was part-Siamese and very vocal). Could it be that Blue is just crying more because he missed you while you were away? Also, has Blue seen a vet lately? You probably already know this, but health issues like hyperthryoidism, parasites, cancer, and diabetes can lead to a cat begging for food. In Dylan's case, his appetite noticeably increased in the early stages of chronic renal failure, but then drastically fell off as his illness progressed. Blue is probably just fine, but you might consider a check-up if the excessive meowing continues.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you, Mark. You are simply human and perfectly imperfect, like the rest of us.

Maybe you could try to distract Blue with his favorite toy when he starts to cry. Spirit begs for treats, and I have to be careful not to give in because of the whole reinforcement thing. We have to be very careful with cats and their weight. I agree with LB. A vet visit might be in order. Please keep us updated.
