after the reunion
I went to my high school reunion a week ago. It was incredible. There was a good turnout. The good thing about social media is that you get a lot of the pictures from other people. I have come to really respect pictures. They capture a moment in time. Things are constantly changing and you can never get that moment back.
I have been a little off since then. The reunion was a two day affair and I participated in the preparation for it. Over the week end I outlined my time, exercise and diet objectives to help me get back on track. I came to the conclusion that while I am working 2 jobs I may not really get to work out. If I can be fairly consistent with the exercise that will help though. That will help me to not fall totally off the wagon.
Binge prevention requires some preparation. I have identified the times that I am most likely to eat wrong and have something ready for it. One of my goals right now it to eat healthy. When I snack nothing can be just pure junk. I did find veggie chips and tortilla chips. I also bought some of those cookies that are supposed to have vitamins in it.
Learning to take care of myself again is a process. Sometimes we can get so bogged down in the demands of life that we make it a habit of putting ourselves and our best interests on the back burner. Sometimes we just need something in the moment to make us feel good so that we can keep going. It all adds up over time though.
I have been talking to one of my high school classmates since the reunion. I did not really believe him when he expressed some interests at the reunion. I just figured he was doing the typical things guys do after they have been drinking (tell you anything to get where they want to go). He has been calling and texting almost daily. He is good looking!!
