the Oscars ended a few minutes ago. got my awards fix covered for another year. i want to see more movies..........bring 'em to me Netflix & TV! I've got time & look forward to seeing them. Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty, Amour, Argo.........can't remember any more titles right now.
I love being submerged in dreams......tiny mustard seeds brought to life. The sound, the music, the actors......the dialogue, the visualization that seem as if they can only come from a place even more mysterious .......but in fact it all comes from Imagination.
Imagination inspires, motivates and lifts my spirit. Seth McFarlane as host....mmm, well there were a lot of ups and downs.......for me personally --- more downs.
I don't really understand why they had the orchestra playing at the old Capital Records Building in LA........why put them offsite? It made for some awkward sound moments....too loud, played over singers. Why not put them onsite in an orchestra pit? I think if any show should have the artists who bring the music to life at the Oscars, it should be the musicians......duh, hello.
Anyway, the Oscars may not be ya'lls thing at all........I always like to watch and guess who will win. I love when winners are genuinely excited......kinda lose it, you can see the stars in their eyes......when their voices get tight or gruff & they try so hard to choke back the tears...........I know they need to consider the time factor, but I don't like that they are using the Jaws theme song to drown someone's acceptance speech out. If they played the Jaws theme song as a spoof about the oscars......but seriously as a cutoff song? Tacky.
One of the first movies that really got my attention was The Ten Commandments. That movie was bigger than life........so different than anything that had ever happened in our small farming community. The parting of the Red Sea.....all of us kids in the audience wanted to be Moses. We would rush to the front of the small theater and hold up a pretend staff and part the raging seas........pump our small fists and then dive down in the seats when the manager would rush in to holler at us to "SIT DOWN or I'LL CALL ALL YOUR PARENTS!" Which he never did, not to us anyway..........we saw that movie over and over during it's long run at the movie house. Our town was so small and we would only get one film for weeks & weeks at a time.
My parents thought I got all that understanding at Sunday School, but a lot of it came from seeing that movie tendehunnerdmillion times..........!!!! Oh my......yes, tendehunnerdmillion was our made up numbers kid word for A WHOLE LOT!
After the Oscars I popped all of my birthday balloons save the big one. Poor kitties.....they split!!!! .....Is it ok to tell you that I had fun popping them, I keep telling ya I have a lot of 7 year old left in me. It might notta been as much fun for the kitties....... I'll put myself in time out on the naughty mat.

The only surprise for me was Best Director. I like more surprises. I wanted the little girl from Beasts of the Southern Wild to win. I knew she wouldn\'t but I wanted her to. I saw 5 of the best picture noms. I wanted to see at least 2 more but, well, you know. The tired thing. In another year, I think Hugh Jackman had a strong shot at winning. I\'m rather taken with him. I mean, handsome, funny, can sing and dance...what else could you want?
I\'m not a TV/MOVIE person, but I have often watched the Oscars. I totally love award ceremonies! Sounds like this one was kinda not well thought out. I don\'t think I would have chose Seth.....whatever!
I chose to watch the Daytona 500 and see cars, driving wildly, and fans hootin and hollering above my decibel tolerance for sure, but I LOVE Nascar! It was a good race. Enjoyed it. A woman, Danica Patric, broke some titles yesterday and made all us here women, proud! She started at the lead of the pack ( called pole position)...a REAL accomplishment, and she ran in the top ten the top three for most of the race. I think she showed those Southern boys what we womanfolk are capable of. I think she will be viewed in a different light after this race. She will be seen as more of a contender. I were PROUD of us girls, yesterday!
Sorry Rio and Annie weren\'t \"into\" your balloon popping festivitities. I am!! LOL....LOVE to pop balloons. I must admit that I can get a bit carried away though, right? It\'s kinda like therapy. Gimme BUBBLE wrap! Oh yea. One of my favorite thingys! I love the little girl in you. I can SO relate.

Yesterday was a day of TV watching & napping for me. Watched the golf from Arizona (cold there), the bowling from NJ (it was a major event for them), NASCAR from Florida & college basketball from several locations.
Finished off the evening by watching a movie on the Inspiration Network called \"Midway To Heaven\" - neat little movie. NO OSCARS FOR ME!
See this old southern country boy was raised so far from town that it was about 20 miles to the movie house so I may have seen 3 to 4 movies before I got my license at 16. Good thing the movie industry does not have to depend on me or they all would be as broke as I am.
DarlaC - I see you & I are the same age & you live in NJ while I live in NC - just so happens that I live within 20 miles of 75% or more of the NASCAR racing shops. I also happen to like that Danica is in NASCAR instead of INDY. Would like to point out one thing for your benefit, most of the drivers now come from all over the US. Probably as many if not more of the starting field of 43 came from California (Gordon, Johnson & Harvick) as from NC. The days of only the good old southern boys (Jr Johnson, Lee & Richard Petty, Curtis Turner, Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts, The Bakers, The Allisons, The Jarretts, The Yarbroughs, The Woods & The Earnhardts) no longer exists. Glad to have her on board, even if she is not the first woman to drive in a NASCAR event. Janet Guthrie was - I think!
I, too, love watching the Oscars. It just never gets old to me. And this year, I have to admit that I did not see one ugly dress!!! Loved a lot of the \"metallic\" fabrics~~I personally love leather and bling, with a tad of lace thrown in. So I just love to marvel at the glamour of it all. I know there are many more important things in life~~but, I like to dream and be entertained, too. And I loved that they brought back the glamorous \"old Hollywood\" feel this year. I am not a big Seth McFarlane fan and I wasn\'t thrilled when I heard he would be hosting. But, I was really wrong. I thought he did a great job~~and being that he loves show tunes and dancing, I thought he was a good fit for the hosting job. He totally surprised me! I liked that it only went over by a bit and that none of the speeches were dragged out. I have to admit that we watch a little behind on the DVR so we can fast-forward through categories we have no interest in. But, all in all, I thought it was really enjoyable this year.
