afraid of the dark

I thought I had a trusted friend. I only knew a good liar. I'm still surprised I was so easily deceived. I was always a good judge of character. I mean, I'm smarter than that right? I have never felt more hopelessly powerless than I did that night, and that feeling has stayed with me ever since. I can't shake it. I don't sleep well, even though I'm leaving the lights on. I was always a brave kid... dangerously brave even. I was the kid who would jump off the garage roof with an umbrella. I had to grow up to become afraid of the dark.
Almost 4 weeks now and It's torture. Torture continues long after the victim is "safe". It stays with you, following wherever you go. I cant help but wonder why... I just cannot wrap my mind around why it would happen. What did I do? Was God there? Did He watch it happen?

You are a victim and this person is hopefully behind bars now. I can\'t imagine the fear and anxiety you are going through, but I am worried you are torturing yourself with these thoughts all alone. Please reach out for some support locally. I wish I could send you strength to get through these tough times. I send hugs and good thoughts your way anyway. Lisa
