Affirmation for November 5, 2015: Sad Songs
For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.- Reba McEntireThought of the day:Music has the power to tap deep into our well of emotions. Listening to it can affect our moods, our perceptions, and even generate new behavioral patterns, as its rhythm and pitch affect our limbic system (the brain structures which support a variety of functions including emotion, behavior, and long term memory).
Sad songs can help us relate to others and the unfortunate situations that so many of us will encounter, while happy songs help us celebrate the greatest moments in life. Musical frequencies can actually entrain our brains to create the most effective state for healing. And for many of us, music offers aesthetic and intellectual pleasure, and inspiration, all on its own.Don’t forget to utilize the power of music in your healing strategy, today!Team DS

I don\'t know what my life would be like without music. i started playing as a preschooler, and I have been playing and teaching ever since. Over my long lifetime, music has been my constant friend and comfort. I have learned that when Johann Sebastian Bach tempered the keyboard away back in the 1700s, he chose C as the beginning of the entire circle of intimacy that tones share with each other. C has the deepest and most resonant hurtz. It resonates deep inside of us. No wonder we are comforted. When I sing, although off key, and maybe even a monotone, the vibrations awake my spirit and nurture my soul as well as my body and brain. When I play Haydn and Mozart on the piano, I rememberw what it was like to feel happy, and then, I feel more positive. When I play certain Beethoven compositions like the later sonatas, trios and quartets, I can empathize with others in their suffering, and address my own. Despite the stereotype of the \"starving artist\" in the long run music has paid more of my bills than the best corporation I ever worked for. I am grateful for music, my friend who is always there. Thank you so much for your post. I am nourished.
Absolutely. As an avid listener, music is strength to me. \"It\'s more than just music - it\'s what feelings sound like\"!!!
