admiration
I am reminded of what arfie once said about admiring the catholic nuns she worked
alongside. I think that's what you said Arfie? I really admired that comment in you Arfie - just by
saying it.
I find myself uncovering a kind of up till now unconscious admiration I have had for the monastics
I work and live with. There's something of such a dedication, and a seeming sense of
always knowing what to do - and not a moment's hesitation to do the work that needs to be done.
I see that in my therapist too - a doer of good works - my family members and friends - and the CL's here. I would aspire to be so consistent and regular
as that - but I suppose I am also idealizing things. I know I have to think of my own individual 'take'
on how the monastic life - or just the responsible life - is manifesting in me. I do some good works
I am hoping and I think that I just have to embrace what I am going for here (and become understanding of
it) - and the way I am going about it.
It really is like a surfacing of truth on the water's surface bubbling up. My illness can make me skittish at times - but I know
and love the consistency I see in people at that is my aspiration to be as that in my life.
I also know that those who do great things are to be acknowledged! But alongside that - their
glory is not about blocking the sun on me or others - if that makes sense- it's all about the glory
of that virtue - and we each have 'some of that' to offer in a good day's work. :) Peace and have a good night!!

since i happen to be typing to a greek orthodox priest, i remember speaking more of the roman catholic priests i have worked alongside of, but i hold an equal regard for the nuns i have worked alongside of. i do remember sharing that i have enjoyed many a fantasy of becoming a nun. i still do, but god had other plans for me. yes, boss. you in charge. while letting god lead the dance, i still find considerable balance in allowing myself a few daydreams of the countering extreme to my daily life.
i also get considerable balancing mileage out of pausing to appreciate the courage and fortitude of ALL the folks who put their best into every day, regardless of vocation. how 'bout a song dedicated to celebrating the courage and fortitude attached.

Thanks Arfie!!
Here's to both of you, showing me a perspective that provides joy in learning and accepting that sometimes, what we think is definitely not going to fit into a box or circle.
Here's to all that you do that helps everyone here!
Thanks Mid!
