achievement and still longing...a duality in life
I've been feeling both very grateful and happy, contented with the humble
life I am living...
I take care of myself and my cat, I take pride in doing a good job
at work and have a sense of achievement about it as well as a community there.
I take care of my life and around here and the apartment
and have a small community of friends here on DS as well
as offline.
At times I do want more money, to feel financially more secure,
to take care of my family, to take care of myself... To take care in case anything happens.
But isn't it kind of bittersweet. I learned to frame that kind of concern
in the duality of both achievement (which I do have a sense of)
and still longing for more.
It's something we all have to cope with I think on some level.
It's really a powerful lesson for me that my therapist gave to me today.
Achieving certain things in life, a certain satisfaction and yet then also
longing for more...a condition of being human. :)

Yes, it is a human condition and I know I can certainly relate. Improvements and enhancements and eliminating stressors- that seems a very human experience for sure. I think one of the most powerful attributes of that is finding fellow humans along the path who strive to make the path to “contentment” illuminated for others. Even the smallest steps can help others achieve heralding moments, n’est-ce pas?
duality? ? ?
i only wish it was that simple. truth a multi-faceted gem. the facets are literally infinite. even the simplistic light and dark dogma has shadows and shades between the extremes.
on the days i can find the humility to relax, kick back and enjoy the show, i'm kinda grateful for all those shades between the extremes. they keep life interesting. as much as i love pen and ink, i love the kaleidoscope of color and multi-media even more.
You have done so well these past few years Mark. I remember when you lived in that group home and now you are supporting yourself and your cat. Wanting more is only human, but it seems, for the most part, you have accepted your life as it is. I'm proud of you. I hope you are proud of yourself.
thanks so much Nikki! Arfie! and Becky!!
