about the baby bird.

so um, yeah, i went out to deadhead roses, water plants and remembered that a bush by the patio needed a haircut.  so off i went.......in my own little world.
i heard a scuffle and some screeping sounds........saw fluttering and backed up........the parent birds were in an uproar.......they are busily raising a bird still in the nest in the (outdoor corner of the patio) Christmas tree.
part of me thinks i knew there was a nest, part of me thinks i didn't really know for sure, but on this day there was no doubt.......wings were beating rapidly, the loud screeping alarms continued.........i saw feathers/wings ricocheting against branches and the privacy fence........my heart was beating in time with those wings...........i stepped back all the way into the house and saw the blur of several small creatures.....please Lord let them be alright.
momma was circling the perimeter to protect her baby..........racing in half circular motions very quickly and giving anxious looks to the sky.......my heart was beating at warp speed........i think it was the momma, not sure.......probably though.  the little thing is a young fledgling bird......flipping and flopping and falling over....helpless, tiny and beautiful....some feathers, but not enough feathers or ability to fly as yet.  broke my rapidly beating heart.
the poor little thing was trying hard to keep itself upright, but that was a very hard job......baby bird kept weebling and wobbling........and that poor momma......!!!!!!!
consulted google about baby bird rescue.  first i had to locate the nest.......finally found the right spot.....grateful that the nest was still intact in the branches.   got a small container and a light tea towel.....scooped up the wee fledgling bird and gently deposited BABY back into the nest.
came back in and prayed my tail off..........me and the Lord had a talk about that tiny thing, about the parents........and I just hope that the info is good and true that if you simply put the fledgling bird back in the nest all will be well.......
i haven't gone back out there........i figure they need time to recuperate......a squirrel is racing off with some kind of food treasure.......and the bumble bees are fly dancing in the air.  hugs.
pray for the baby and the loving bird parents.  please and thank you!

Praying baby bird is OK. That was a nice thing to do for the baby bird. I got to soak in my pool today for a half hour. The water was cool, but felt so good on my achy body. Hubby bought me a float to sit in while in the water. I got some color to me for the first time in a very long time.
My knee is not swollen , just allot of pain & numbness in my foot. It\'s not all the time thank TGL. Going to try & get to bed earlier tonight...we will see. Love you sweet sparrow, girlfriend of mine. You got allot done today. Praying your Fibro pain doesn\'t get intense. Love ya xo

Hey Ruthie, we had a nest fall from a large tree in our back yard with six little new born birds inside. One had died unfortunately. This happened several months ago.Anyway we were told that because we had touched the birds and nest, the mother would reject them . Don\'t know if it\'s true or maybe only applies to particular species. Anyway we phoned wild life and rescue and a lady came and collected them to take home and care for.She also confirmed what we had been told. Doesn\'t make a lot of sense to me.So I hope that little bird is going to survive.Hugs xo

I commend you for rescuing the baby bird, but I have trouble feeling sorry for the little thing. Sorry, Sparrow. We have an invasion of wild birds around our house --- the chicken food draws them in. The airborne monsters Kamikaze our chicken pen every time we feed the chickens. Stoopid burds eat more storebought feed than our chickens do! We have a lot of nests around the house. When I was going out to feed the chickens the other day, a fledgling fell out of a nest right behind me. Lizzie, our 32 lb. rat terrier, had it before it hit the ground. I felt a little sorry for the bird, but not for our chickens, or for Lizzie. Yeah ..... I\'m that country.
I know you love your little birdie buddies, though, so I hope yours thrive.
Hugs!
