A whole different journey, now.
Early This spring, my husband was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. He has had two major surgeries to "debulk" tumours, and has recovered quite well from both. The only therapy he has is a monthly injection of a medicine which is supposed to put the cancer into "hibernation".
In fact, he is in great shape; No weight/muscle loss, all his hair (he is a silver fox!) and not really any pain nor symptoms of the cancer beyond residual surgical healing.
He doesn't really discuss his fears etc with me; but has got a referral from his doctor for a psychotherapist to help him deal with the diagnosis. I think that his fears include leaving me and our family to carry on without him...
My problem is that with him seeming (from my external vantage point) so well, I am frustrated that we have stopped travelling, which we did a lot of before the diagnosis. In fact, we had to cancel a big trip to the UK in the spring after he was diagnosed. On email, there are a few companies that constantly offer us amazing cruises and tours, but I just can't spark his interest.
One issue is the regular injections, which we dont want to play around with as they are a success. The nurse who gives him them did chat with us about strategies to avoid interrupting our vacations, which include me administering them for him. I am not a nurse type, though, and these are major needles so I am afraid of doing that...

and by the way, he stopped drinking a year or two ago, and so I want to move to a spouse-of-cancer-patient support group.
