A Wake Up Call
Dear Fred:
I wonder why it is that so often you get a wake up call at another person's expense. For the past 2 weeks I have been on a real one person pity party. It's true this time of year is exactly when Nick and I started our journey through Hell during the last 4 months of his life. It's true that not being able to see well and seeing double whenever I try to drive is making me fairly housebound. It is also true that the arthritis in my right hip causes at least a low grade pain about 95% of the time. I was really feeling down, depressed and very weepy. Then I read a post here on DS that brought these tiny problems I am having into prospective and I can see they are not real problems. They are inconveniences.
Today's post by "Terryanddon" was a true wake up call as to what a true problem is and what isn't. She posted that she has been told she now has breast cancer. The thought of dealing with this terrifying monster called Cancer all by yourself is daunting. Now THAT is a true problem. I cannot even imagine the situation she must face. My heart goes out to her. I am grateful for her sharing this with us as it really was a wake up call to me to stop the on going pity party and be grateful for the life and situations that I have.
So, thank you Terryanddon and if there is a God may you receive blessings of strength, peace and a return to good health.
