A small breakthrough.
My older daughter has been a "closed book" since childhood. She refused to open up to me, so I only judged her by her actions. She is manipulative and definitely has a stronger personality than me. Since she separated from her late ex-husband, she and her little girl have been living with me and Colleen. Last year I couldn't take it anymore, and she and her daughter moved into their own little apartment.
Since then our relationship improved a lot! A while ago I got upset with her again, but just before I could speak my mind, the little voice inside me told me to rather reach out to her with kindness and love. I felt upset, but followed the advice anyway from that day on. I also decided to meet her anger and frustration with love and understanding. Well, this afternoon she opened up to me, and we had a long talk. Finally I understand the person behind all the negative actions a little better! She didn't finish school, and therefore she can't find a decent job. And to hide her low self esteem, she became a human bulldozer instead. Now my son and I agreed to help her so she can finish school, and her whole attitude changed! She is determined to better her life, and I know that she will reach her goal! What a wonderful breakthrough!!

Sounds encouraging...my mom & I couldn\'t talk until we reached the point of tears. The job market TOTALLY SUCKS, so education does not always help; encourage her to be more flexible w/ jobs she\'ll accept.
It\'s amazing what kindness and love can do instead of constant disagreement and misunderstanding. I\'m so glad you listened to that little voice. Having those heart to heart talks can solve a lot problems. I\'ll pray your daughter\'s attitude remains positive and with your support, can finish her schooling.
