A night to spruce myself up
I spent the afternoon doing land surveying of the monastic land (135 acres.) The monastery can get a fiscal benefit with the state if they conserve some part of their land permanently for agricultural use, rather than developing all of it. It’s a kind of job I haven’t done before. The volunteer surveyor who lead me talked constantly and honestly I don’t think I would be so tired but it was fun.
Spring has sprung here, daffodils, crocuses and other stuff. Sunshine and warm temps. It was great to be outside!
The closest thing I’ve done like this was measuring land for the production designer for scenery construction on a film!
It’s awesome to think my work has this kind of tangible impact for the monastery!!
Now after evening meal, I skipped great compline and called my Dad as I walked back to my room. It was great to hear his voice!
As a tangent but important to me tonight also is - The water here really dries the skin. I'm going to wash up and then put on some face cream. I'm nearly 55 years old and it helps!:)
