A Miracle
For the first time in over a year, I feet blessed to have my sweet daughter on the other side of things and I feel she really came through for me as I begged her and God not to take my dad to heaven, 2 weeks ago.
My poor dad suffered from congestive heart failure and a minor stroke back in Sept of 2012. Only 4 short months after I lost my sweet Addy. But he had a swifty recovery and was doing great a year later, or so we thought.
Wed Oct 23rd 2013 He said his heart felt weird, like it was pumping really fast. So, Thursday morning he finally agreed to go to the hospital. And once again congestive heart failure was the case. I went to the ER at about 9am and sat with him till about Noon, his heart rate was at 160. He was fine and talking but he was getting tired so I figured rest was the best thing for him at the time, so I went back to work.
About 3pm my sister text me and said he was being moved to the ICU, he was getting restless and very uncomfortable and that really worried me. At 5pm i was literally walking out the door at work when my mom called me bawling, she told me to get to the hospital ASAP, they were having trouble stabalizing him and they were giving him the strongest meds they had and if they didn't work he would pass away, and I needed to come say good bye.
I prayed to Addy all the way to the hospital, and pretty sure I yelled at God, I told him that he already had my daughter and he can't have my dad too. I don't know how smart it is to yell at the big guy but at that time I felt it was nessacary.
I arrived to find my dad flat on his back in bed mumbling things that made no sense, moaning and groaning in severe pain, and moving his legs up and down, I held his hand and silently said the Lord's prayer over and over, and asking Addy to watch over her Gramps and heal his heart. The nurse said that he was retaining all his fluid and that his heart was pushing fluid into his lungs. His heart rate was at 24, his blood pressure was severly low and his heart was barely working at 10%. The nurse told us to get anybody there that wanted to say good bye. It was just terrible to hear her say that.
Over the next couple of hours more and more family members arrived, but we all seemed to have faith that it just wasn't his time, and little by little everything on the monitor started to rise, and at about 9pm, he said as clear as can be "Can I have some Apple Juice" and the nurse said sure and he sat up drank the juice, from then on everything seemed to be fine. They were concerned that his lungs, liver and kidneys were damaged from the heart rate dropping so low. But a week later my dad was coming home. My dad came home the day before Halloween and enjoyed seeing his grand kids all dressed up. He has to wear a life vest for 3 months, cause his heart is weak, but other that that he is doing well.
I truly believe that we were blessed with a miracle that night. I have been thanking Addy and God for the miracle they gave us. We don't know what happened and the nurses didnt say much after his heart rate and blood pressure returned back to normal. But we seem to think that the ER gave him too much meds to lower his heart rate and it practically killed him.
Like I said at the beginning, I actually feel blessed to have an angel over there on my side. Thanks Addy!!!!
