a little piece of heaven......
hey you........wish you could see these happy little plants drinking in sunshine......!!!!
their little heads were hanging low, rescued them from the wall of mart.....ok walmart, reduced for a quick sale at low low clearance prices. they sat in the wheelbarrow for a week drinking water, taking in their new home.....then i potted them and hung them on hooks on the front porch. and more on the back porch......they are happy little beings. so many faces all turned up to greet the sun.
my home is clean and tidy, thanks to Debbie's monthly visit......she cleans the cottage and uplifts me at the same time! yesterday she left a dessert cookbook with me to find something new to make for the upcoming OWLS meeting.......so sweet!
brain fog was running rampant so i opted not to leave the premises....(i called her vacuum an umbrella and that was just one little moment of a day full of errors) aka drive my car to Bible Study.......or go eat hot dogs/slaw and potato salad with the folks pre Bible Study. But there is a woman's meeting on Monday at 7 so there is a new goal to shoot for. i got some raffle tickets to support this women's church group and while we know winning is a LONG SHOT>>>>>>it's still fun to try! the winning item? a beautifully handstitched quilt in yellow, white and soft grays......it is so lovely! i hope it goes to a good home, one of the ladies at Bible Study made it.......it really is grand!
i just texted my offspring....to check in, to see if they want to do lunch, a movie, dinner.......something soon. i followed up with my mortgage company and yes they are working on my request to remove MIP (mortgage insurance premium) from my monthly payment. This would net me another $60 - $80 in my monthly budget which would be so nice!
Curtains are in the dryer......wish I had an old fashioned clothesline on a day like today......my inner weather girl senses that rain is on the way........if not today, then maybe tonight? my flowers will appreciate it, the peonies are budding, the roses are opening up......the irises are coming up in droves......the tulips are taking a break, they already shared glorious deep purple tulips with me........brilliant little things that they are!
sent a message to Bruce, please come dig holes and mow. yup, i have more plants for him to add.....every spring i set aside a budget to add to the idea that we should indeed bloom where we are planted.......my interpretation is quite literal in this instance......and the results continue to lift my spirits....wish you could sit with me and watch the hollies come to life......the butterfly bushes whisper to the butterflies.......see the ivy curl around the ancient peeling red painted rocker out back.....i put a toy john deere tractor complete with trailer on the front porch.....and yeah, filled the trailer with pine cones and twigs. always feed your inner child.......don't let that go.......nurture it!
trying to decide if i will stay in and just rest.....chill, cool it.....or if i will go out and attempt to put the smaller rescue plants in the ground.......or get in my car and go for a drive. i haven't gone to senior center yet.......maybe i should rest and head that way tomorrow. meet some new people, learn about what this place has to offer.......hang out.
feeling pretty content today.......slept better than .....well let's just say slept better than i have in a long time and that always makes the new dawn brighter..........there will be rain, there will be storms and there will be days that find you quietly content.......thankful......grateful. at peace.
blessings on your day.......hugs from a southern girl inside sparrow cottage

Ruthie, you are a Flower Whisperer! It is awesome that you rescued the neglected little flowers at Walmart and patiently nurtured them back to life. Now you can enjoy them every time you go out of your porch. It sounds like you have a lot of fun activities on the horizon with Owls and the women\'s group - I hope your strength and stamina are watered just like the flowers so that you can bloom in your circle of friends. xoxo, ELLE
Pretty flower! I talk to mine. Send Bruce out to mow my lawn. It\'s overgrown. If you mow your lawn and find a car you forgot you had, you might be a redneck --- or Appalachian American is the term I prefer :) Much love. Heather.
I love the flower! What a nice thing to see in the morning! It\'s time for me to hit Wal-Mart and grab me some of them!! I love flowers. Spring, and all...the planting, I am not so good at, but it all turns out to look pretty good, I must say. I\'m sure Bruce will do whatever needs to be done to help you.
Hope you are able to connect with your kids soon! We all know how important that is!!
Glad your cottage is clean and your spirits seem pretty good today. May that feeling carry through the weekend!!
Big hugs, Ruthie! xo
Ah Ruthie such a pretty flower, I used to love to garden & every year added as many gardens in my yard as I could. My plan was to make my whole yard one big garden. Now all of those gardens are gone because I just couldn\'t keep them from dying off so I gave them all away. They are blooming all over town & in very pretty gardens elsewhere. I am happy you have Bruce to help you, it is so wonderful. Here in Montana, the greenhouses are not up yet so we will have new plants in a few weeks. I am going to try a herb garden, my yard used to be full of herbs, some are still there & come up every year.
Loved your journal, seems like you are so happy & content. I love life too even though I am sick. I try to see the good in each day. Have fun with your kids & all of your commitments but pace yourself accordingly. Lots of hugs going your way, Denise
