a good day done.

just got home from work and had my meal in the cafeteria

and now I am back upstairs in my room in the rectory.

it was so good to see everyone here when I came home.

It feels snug, safe and protected and homey.

The meal was great too and it was so nice that it was waiting for me.

I thanked sister Nina who set it aside for me.

While at work, I worked mostly alone today - four hours

alone. That's ok - I got most of the work done.

Not all, but only left two things not done. One of those things

would have taken 2 hours itself to do properly. The boss

has got to know that...but she requests that it's done every day -

and so it gets done piecemeal. The place overall is managed very very well.

One of the Assistant Directors came over to the department today

and at a moment of stress I implied a sense of frustration with the way

something was. It wasn't direct but I think my grimace (as a result of stress)

painted the picture. I regretted that. It started to needle away

at me - the combined stress and anger mixed up into seeing

only the unvirtuous foolish side of myself- -but I stepped back and walked

myself through that inner conflict - that it wasn't all that was going on

that I was bigger and more than just that moment.

And so I got on with the work and did it fairly well and my mood was lifted..

I felt good that I could coach myself through it - with the power of positive thinking

and cognitive steps for the better.

I drove home and wanted so much to call my Dad and talk to him.

To unload or 'download' to him about my day. I was conflicted - it didn't

seem the most healthy thing to do.  Instead I thought about - taking a step backwards mentally -

how he has stuff that he is involved in - he has stuff and things he thinks about -

and likes to think about - that's not the same as me -

and so I kind of just felt a good and healthy barrier between us - in fact I thought

that I like to think about things  - and just that kind of recognition by myself - made me

aware that here I am driving - I am in control - and I enjoy thinking about

things from the day - just an activity of life -

I got home to the monastery and started my evening...I even thought at one

point of the philosophy of "I think therefore i am.' That reinforced me by

knowing that idea as well and feeling in very good company.

I'll watch some pbs and then hit the sack. :)
