a good day ....
I need to write - I have this kind of desire to organize
my thoughts about today and the kind of implication today has for my current life
and future. Things are good. I got up at 5am and then went down to set up church at 6am.
Church set up went well and I got the word that I would be conducting
the service on my own for the first time. I determined to stay in the moment and keep on keeping on.
Service went well - a few mistakes - but I was pleased and I got a few really nice
compliments for the success of my first liturgy that I served.
I went to the coffee room in between service and Trapeza (cafeteria where we
eat every meal.) Then after the first meal, I took the regular meals up to the rectory
for the guys - and then set down to doing some phone calls that I have needed to do.
I set up an appointment and checked the status of some financial stuff. I made some tea
and was chomping at the bit for a better way to conduct my life. I was pleased with
the way I conducted my first service alone. It brought back memories of conducting
good meetings at my job in 'corporate.'
I was letting that be the sucess of the day - but I want to be inspired to do more...
I am trying to live in the moment to make good decisions about what to do.
Weather permitting, I'll go to the gym tomorrow - as my fitness is now a big
part of my daily plan. I could draw too. Focusing on that might be a good idea.
Here's another drawing I did recently. I posted about it on Facebook and how I reflected with my friend and artist Eliza by showing her this drawing I had just made. More recent years have made me think my drawings had no legitimacy, as in why what I draw should be considered art or be special? Lately I’ve realized that I tend to find myself in prayer in my life and so that thought seems to give me the beauty love that my drawings are prayers…and that’s ok!:) That’s enough.
Keep on keeping on. :)

I started to draw, and as I drew, I started to understand a lesson from Social Media.
Like on social media, artists may show only the good and nice stuff they make
and so you don't see the works in progress or the experimentals - but it's far from reality.
Jerry Seinfeld recently talked about the commitment to that idea in that there's no writer's block - you have to admit
you're mediocre and then do the work to make the writing you made really good. Spend the time
and fix it bit by bit. My friend Ellee
talked about, in response to that, being all about and loving the work.
Jerry's comments are a little harsh - but I took from him the inspiration for when looking
at any creative endeavor....that all of it 'takes work.'
I'm so glad that the service went well sweetie
It's great that you're enjoying drawing and getting into art again
To think of it as prayer is lovely
Big hug...xo
Thanks Jan!
Great job successfully conducting the service! Also, I’m impressed by your gym goal.
I’m curious about this interesting art. Does it symbolize/represent something? Did something inspire you to create it?
I think all art tells a story...kinda like life itself. We all have a story to tell and we express it in different ways.
Congratulations of your first liturgy! That's something to be very proud of, for sure.
Thanks Susan and Bob!
Love the drawing, Mark. And congratulations on your first delivery!
The critique process of art and measuring its worth is something that always troubled me. To look at it as a prayer or meditation is lovely.
Thanks Nikki!
