A Future?
There is this song by the John Butler Trio that's called "Better Than" and one of my favorite lines is "Why do I look to the other side cuz I know the grass is greener but just as hard to mow".
I'm trying to be more positive and get control of my life. I have been on disability for 5 years now and I'm trying to do something with my life. When I was first on disability, I volunteered 3 days a week for 4 hours a day. Now I come in maybe one day a week for an hour. I want to start going back and do something positive. I wanted to work for this one woman, but she doesn't need any help. I had a blunt (but helpful) reality check from my therapist yesterday. I asked her if she thought that I would be on disability for the rest of my life and she said that I wasn't doing anything to prepare for a job and the stress would be too much for me. She said that I would be stable, but unable to work. That's why I want to get my life together. I'm 33 (almost 34, jeez!) and I don't want to get to my 40's on disability. I want to have kids, but I can't afford them. I want to make my own money and work. I want a future. And I don't have one now.

Your future is in your hands. Only you can move forward, others can help you on your mission BUT only you can put the plan in gear.
you have had your reality check and i know you want to do something, yet i know how easy it is to get in a rut and change is scary. only you can do the things needed to become stable and then able to do what you want. always here for you, have faith in you. hugss
she didn't say that you could do something simple for a living, like assembly line or anything? i wouldn't think that kind of work would be therapeutic?
i hope it works out for you. xxoo
I have too many physical problems and too much education for a "simple" job. I'm doing better now, and I'm going to be looking for a job in the near future.
