a full and rich day, time to settle down to sleep
it's been a really fruitful day here. A lot of things to do, a lot of things
gotten done. Some good downtime with Blue and a trip to the pub.
Now it's time to settle down to sleep and now I'm faced with the clinical
process of 'what works' to help me sleep. What works and steeling myself to take on
the goals of life...here goes! Tomorrow I will call the affiliate of my market
in Maryland and ask to speak to the manager. Hopefully he or she will have
or find use for me in their market which I am going to ask if I can start in November.
I'm moving in September, but there will be so much to get used to and to deal with
by moving cross country that to start in November seems reasonable.
I also need to ask the Abbess what I need to bring with me?
bedding, towels, pillows, summer and winter clothes....I'm shipping my car.
I'm bringing Blue as well, so I will ask her would she mind if I made a big order on Chewy
and had it sent to the monastery so that Blue will have a toilet/litter box first thing when we arrive.
There's a lot more to plan too. Along with buying an airline ticket and arranging to be able to bring Blue
on board with me at my seat as well as to get him a new vet and also a sedative for the trip.
I need to organize to call the bank, social security and medicare to change my address.
I'll need to close out my utilities here. I'll need to contact a handyman to dismantle my
chandelier and special lightswitch that another handy man installed for me.
I'll need to get a big supply of meds from my doctors...and also find a new doctor (s)
including a GP as well as a Psychiatrist. The NIH is in Maryland and so that's
reassuring that such a prestigious medical system is there. I'll need to pack
and store things that I am not going to take (like furniture, art and keepsakes.)
So this is good just to write it out - I'll use it as a laundry list to check things off.
peace and good night,
Mark

I gotta deal with registering my car, getting a new driver's license with an updated
address - more to add.
Keeping a notebook of everything will make the move more organized and calm.
Yay!!! You made the decision to move to MD?!? I'm so excited for you!! I know how happy you seemed when you visited the monastery. I'm glad you're finally taking the leap. I agree with Mid about keeping a notebook of everything. Also, as you know, major life changes can be super stressful! Do you believe you'll be able to get everything done by September? I'd encourage you to allow enough time to prepare so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Good luck with everything, and keep us posted!
That’s big news Marky! I’m really happy for you! Rooting you on from here and will wave to you when you fly over.
Thanks guys!!
Wow! That's huge news! I bet they're so excited that you're joining them. Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore, and they're excellent, too. It sounds like you know what needs to be done, and I agree with the "notebook" suggestion or making a spreadsheet on your computer. Looking forward to following your journey! You got this!
Thanks Susan!!
Congrats on your move. Will you be living in an apartment or on the monastery? I would suggest you do a trial on the sedative early on to see how it affects Blue. I had a cat I gave one to and it hipped him up instead of sedating him. I agree with making a list of all the things you need to do and then checking them off as you get them done. That's what I do when going on a trip so I don't forget anything. Keep us updated on your progress. Is it going to be hard adjusting to cold weather? God bless.
thanks Becky! I'll be living in the monastery. I will create a list and I'll keep you updated!
It's going to be hardest on Blue (the cold weather) but hopefully all will be ok.
Thanks!
Sounds great Mark.
