A facility is not 'home'

Nurses, doctors, & aides who don't understand, communicate or ATTEMPT to work WITH YOU are just exacerbating the quality of your existence...missed appointments, promised equipments/services just escalate a rising lack of patience or already STRETCHED SANITY.  I have waited since JULY TO FIX MY HEARING AIDES; this place was FAXED THE DETAILS of that appt. which NEVER HAPPENED.  Then again there can be the occasional KIND SOUL, but they are RARE.  On the SURFACE, Sara fell in love w/ this place & worked towards it, but she does not live here.  I would not wish this place on my worst oppressor, but, then again, they would be smarter than to live here & maybe have enough money to choose.

Dear Gene,

I am assuming from this post that you have moved to your new Assisted Living,,,???

I am sure that a move comes with a tremendous amount of adjustment and working through a lot of things and trying to discern how to work effectively with a whole new raft of staff.

It is true that Sara does not live there and an Assisted Living facility is not the same as one\'s individual home. But Sara has good taste and good judgement from what you have said and has been your advocate for a long time. Maybe you can work with her to review the good and positive points of this new place and try to see what can be done to make some peace for yourself.

Please give yourself time to adjust and just breathe in and out in and out.....
Right now all that is probably necessary is the absolute basics of adjusting to a whole new place and routine and set of people and I imagine that is a hard task.

But unless it is an emergency, I think it would be best to let anything that can just slide a bit....and work slowly to get new appointments for needed services and equipment after a slow period of adjustment and trying to make good working relationships with your new people. Try to give each person a chance to get to know your good qualities and your needs and give yourself time to get to know them a little so that you have an idea of how to work with them......

Please give yourself and everyone time and the benefit of all doubts......

Here\'s hoping you and everything feels better very soon.....

wishing you peace and comfort.....

Gene it is awful the lack of services the slow response. These places that are home to people need to provide basic and needed services, that is what they are supposed to do!
What can we do? how can we help?

I\'m so sorry to hear this Gene, I think it will take time to adjust to the new place. They don\'t know you, you are the new kid on the block there and you will just have to show them how wonderful you are. We all know that, but they don\'t. I hope you meet some friends there and things start moving along better for you my friend. Hugs to you, Terry

Gene, I\'m so sorry to read this post. I too hoped you would be moving to a much better and kinder place to live. do you think maybe just time will help smooth things out for you? After Sara went through all the process to get you moved in there, it\'s a shame it didn\'t work out for you but I\'m hoping in time it wil be better. Take cae, my friend, Carol

Gene, I\'ve been through the \"assisted\" bullshit. I am so very sorry you have to go through this. I wish I could tell you great news that all will be well right this second, but I can\'t. I pray for you daily. Please don\'t give up, please? Can\'t you still talk with Sara? Can you apply for other places? It may take time, but hell, what other choices? Keep at it!
Keep me updated, my Friend, please?!
Peace and Love to YOU this Christmas Night, Franciann
