I’m starting to realize that there’s different lexicons or something (words fail me) in between each relationship which teach me to affirm others and myself differently - I’m starting to realize that I need to affirm myself independently especially in this time of looking for work but I also know that the affirmation that I seek around here and lack of it in the monastery is different than other places and I know myself differently because of it. I’m growing and that’s good. I’m growing socially I mean my social contact with others here has made me change grow in a way and it’s forcing me to affirm myself independently but not go overboard and go dark. It just it’s interesting. Again my therapist has suggested put pictures of people I love on the walls as well as things that remind me of past successes:).
I don’t have all the answers, all I know is that I’m not with someone sharing life and they don’t have to have all the answers either. I’m grateful for Blue, I’m hopeful for the future
life is a dance
we learn as we go
sometimes we lead
sometimes we follow
don't you worry 'bout what you don't know

yup, words keep failing me on this slippery phenom, too. my attempt of the day is: back when my compulsive use of the royal we was intense enough to be part of my formal therapy, affirming myself independently of others was nearly impossible for me. there is no me. there is no you. there is only we and we are the same.
and, as i typed that, paul simon crooned his way into my head. slip sliding away. . .
