A dinner without my spouse
Jeff ,
Remember last November when my Dad has scheduled that dinner at the exclusive Tuscan get away in rural Reno County? He was so upset when Mom told him he had to either cancel it or reschedule it and wouldn't tell him why. ( She had planned his 70th suprise party for that same night.) So, they rescheduled it for the first open time, which happened to be tonight.
They invited us 4 kids and spouses. No grandkids or great grandkids. It has been along time since just the kids and folks did anything.
We got there and the table was set for 10. Of course there were only 9 of us. Your place was empty. But you were definately remembered by everyone, Baby. We joked about so many thngs you would have said or done had you been there. It really helped that my family doesn't tiptoe around not mentioning you, like you didn't exist.
You are still such a huge part of our family. You are missed by everyone. Your laugh and smile and sense of humor is still with us all.
I did really well. I kept a smile on my face and even was able to laugh throughout the evening. But inside, I was crying. I miss you so much. I hate being the newly widowed. I hate it when people ask me where my husband is or what he does for a living. I want to be like my brother and sisters and have their spouse there next to them as we celebrate as a family. I want you back!
