Up!
Mood Change! Back on top of the mood cycle again. Downloaded some information from the "shyness.com" website. Amazing! I'll transfer the information later, but I sure explains alot of my life experiences. I can see where it connects to codependency and the 'obsessive negative thinking'. Cognative therapy (Thinking control) seems to benefit most. Although anti-depressants, MOAI's, Prozac, Zoloft, etc. have helped in some trials (since I've used them in the recent past it seems relavent at the moment) and even Retalin (for ADHD and ADD; which I thought I had, & I actually exhibited some, if not most, of the symptoms). Somehow all of this is connected. Including my assertion that it is genetic, or at least a proclivity. Especailly for Introverts. It even correlates shyness to Sept. & Oct. births (I am a Nov. baby) due to more melatonin in the mother's harmonal system; blonde hair and blue eyes (which I had until puberty), AND allergies (which I had in abundance and still do to some extent, although not dibilitatingly). This may be another piece of the puzzle. How many of my friends here were born in the fall (autumn)? How many had older siblings? How many had non-sociable families (families that did not socialize alot, stayed at home, family stuff only? It still gets down (for me at least) to being highly sensitive to the environment; which I think is what codependency is all about. How many of my friends consider themselves highly sensitive? Anyway, that's it for now......Later.

My husband is an introvert, was shy growing up, and has allergies. He was born in October (so were two of my kids). And my poor son in kindergarten who was born in October is having a horrible time socially.
But it could also just be coincidence.
Did you know that there is a connection between type 1 diabetes, schizophrenia, and being born in the darker parts of the year (mostly Feb. and March). They have linked it to not getting enough vitamin D at certain key times in early development.
Born in December. Had blond hair until about 2nd grade when it turned light brown. Eyes are grayish blue. Suffered from allergies very badly as a child - so bad I had to have shots. Suffered a lot of illness in general until I got through college almost. Incredibly shy and loathe social situations where there are more than a handful of people that I know around. Throw in a couple of strangers and I am sitting in the corner by myself observing!
Oh, and as an aside...my first therapist in my 20s told me that having strep throat a lot as a child meant I had something I needed to say that I wasn\'t saying! Very interesting.
Mother found out I had allergies when she gave me some orange juice and I turned ORANGE! The Dr. then put me on soy milk soon after, even before testing me, since lactose intolerance seems to be another common allergy. I had a lot of food allergies: oranges, bananas, strawberries, chocolate, melons, wheat, dog dander, cat dander, wool, girls (NO, Wait! That one\'s an error!). I had boils, slept with a humidifier, lots of chest conjestion, just a whole bunch of stuff. Like I had about 21 shots a week for allergies...looked like a infant heroine addict! It was great fun now that I look back at it (Yeah, Right! Get real, Ricardo!) Ouchie! Waaaaaah!
Oh yeah, Scattered...I still prefer to be anti-social. I have two really close friends, not counting my wife. I socialize some, but it\'s by choice, not by a need to be around others all the time like extraverts. Solitude suits me just fine, I think it\'s that sensitivity to environmental stimulations. I think it has something to do with my job-hunting too. At least I have some awareness (or excuse) for some of my unconscious obsessive thinking and compulsive behaviors.
Very interesting info. I\'ll have to check out that website. I see a lot of similarities in my daughter. She feels uncomfortable in large groups and thinks of all the possible outcomes before participating in new situations.
I also tend to be on the shy side but have become less so with age, but put me in a new, unfamiliar situation and I\'m back at square one.
Thanks for sharing.
Figures.... hubby was born in February........ sheesh That explains the whole thing! LOL
