I had a really great day today! I had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in 30 years. It was an hour and a half drive, but it was a beautiful day and the drive was along the coast highway and it was such a wonderful view the whole way there. We met at a restaurant and caught up on old times. I was worried because I know I gained a lot of weight since high school (and I was already fat then) and I wondered how it would be, but it was great. Besides catching up with an old friend, I noticed that I was so busy with the chit chat that I really didn't spend much time eating. I ate slowly and only ate about half of what was on my plate. i had hazelnut encrusted halibut and it was very good. I finished the fish, about half the veggies and half the salad, and I ate one roll (it came with 2) because it smelled so good, like home baked, and it was very good. I wanted to take the other roll home, but the waitress didn't come by the time we wanted to leave so I just left it there. I guess this sounds stupid, but for a person with a food obsession, this is practically a miracle. I have honestly never had a meal where my attention was not focused on the food. I've had many meals where I tried to act like my attention was on something other than the food, but the food has always been the focus. It has always been hard to leave food on my plate too, and today, half the food was still on the plate when we left, and it didn't bother me. I think this is a major break through for me.
