I am feeling pretty good today. I had a good Dr. visit and a counseling appt. My doctor reminded me that in 2005 my cardiologist gave me 1 year to live. My heart was functioning at about 30% and now it is functioning at 55%. (normal is 66%). I weighed in at over 440 (the scale only went to 440) and now I am at 414. (I have been as low as 350 but gained it back). With my counselor I was able to talk about my progress. Even though I haven't lost in the last week or so, I would have normally given up by now, but I am being very careful to keep working on it. I couldn't even get on the treadmill and now I can walk 100+ steps and more importantly I am doing it every day. (120 steps today so far). I have to pass a Dairy Queen every day and they post the blizzard of the month on their board. In june it was the brownie batter blizzard. I thought I would allow myself one small blizzard sometime that month, but the month passed and the time just didn't seem right to get one. Now the month is over and I don't even feel deprived. Normally I probably would have went at least 2 or 3 times in a month. I didn't even want to  one today after realizing I haven't had one for over a month.  I also noticed I wasn't so out of breath when I went to the doctor. I had to walk up a slope. No biggie for a normal person, but for me it would have been a killer. I am also more aware of what I am eating, I'm not really bingeing (I've had a few small mishaps, but nothing like before). I am seeing my problem areas and working on correcting them. I have hit a plateau on the weight loss much quicker than I had hoped, but I am not giving up, which is something new. Even today, while I was at the doc, my son was picked up and taken to detention and it did not really affect me as far as my eating is concerned. Of course, I knew it was coming, but I thought it would be after his court date. Anyway, I'm o.k. and do not even have the urge to overeat. I'm far from doing everything perfectly, but I'm making progress in the mental area and that has been my goal. When I finally get to have my surgery I want to be able to make the most of it because I feel it is my last real chance to lead a normal life.
