as i was driving today, i was lost deep in thought...and i realized...i dont wanna be normal.......normal would mean doing what everyone else is doing....and from what i can see that would mean eating alot of fried food and sweets.....and well....i just dont think i would be comfortable being "normal"...i decided that instead i wanna be healthy......at my work, when parents come with their kids up to order, the kids always just say that they want ice cream....and the parents are always like no.....why dont u have some french fries first and then u can have some ice cream.....ok...shoving fried food into ur kids before letting them have ice cream is better than just letting them have the ice cream? is this good parenting nowadays? have i missed something!?!?well i went to wal mart today......and i saw that do it urself blood pressure machine.......so i was like ok ill try it.......the first time i stuck my arm in, it said that my pulse was 0......so pretty much knowing that my arm was probably too small for the machine to get a grip on, i shoved my arm further in.....this time it said that my pulse was 47.....im only focusing on the pulse here because i dont worry about my blood pressure...it is always under the normal range.....but 47? i was told that 50 is the bare minimum for medically stable.....im not sure if my pulse is really that low or if the machine didnt get the right reading because of my arm being so tiny.......well at any rate, i am using this as a driving force to pick up my eating again.......

I don\'t believe in shoving fried foods into my kids. It\'s not good parenting. There are so many obese kids now a days because of this. I\'m not saying I don\'t deny my kids of anything, but when we go out to eat, I have my kids eat there main meal first, then if they are still hungry they can eat the french fries. Sometimes I don\'t even get the french fries for them, I get them veggies.

I dunno where some peoples minds are, or where they are headed, but at any rate most of it is down right...\"OMG!!\" I usually have a lot to say about ppl\'s, quote on quote, \"normal\" eating habbits, I am a vegetarin...and sometimes more.
Nice that you\'re keeping yourself motivated.

I know what you mean. Fried foods are disgusting. Eating healthy is a much better idea. There are more and more people that are eating healthy nowadays. While eating completely healthy is not normal, it is becoming more and more common. I don\'t know about your blood pressure. I wouldn\'t trust the one at Walmart, but use it as motivation! You can do this!

girl, the normal american diet really is a bit abnormal. Fast food, fried food.. etc, so many Americans are over weight, it is a bit scary. I work in a clothing store and I am convinced that the clothes sizings are constantly changing, the size zero, is for a \"normal\" american eater, which is not a healthy eater. So anywho, it is deceiving and a bit upsetting!

You are right about not wanting to be normal. I look at people that are normal and think maybe I am not that screwed up. I was thinking the other day that normal isn\'t always the best thing to be. I agree that the focus should be healthy and happy. I know that the way I am with Abe is neither healthy or happy so I need to figure out what my normal will be. You are awesome by the way. You always put on paper things that I have been trying to figure out. Thanks!!!

the blood pressure/pulse thing would be mighty scary.
and i like your whole \"normal\" thing. i never say that, i just want to be healthy. i want to feel good, eat right, exercise, be happy.
america is growing more and more obese by the decade. it was VERY disgusting, i don\'t ever eat fast food. well, i tried eating french fries maybe a month ago, and they don\'t even taste good anymore.
and i think that mom or whoever[about the french fries] basically just meant it as the child should have something of substance before just a treat. because ice cream SHOULD be a treat, but these days it\'s an everyday after every meal dessert!

Thanks...I know my mom loves me...it\'s just that she is SO controlling, and I am 30!
Anyway, about being healthy...I am basically a vegan who eats yogurt and fish occasionally...there is a huge community of vegetarian/vegans in my state, lots of healthy resturants and grocery stores...the people that eat that crap aren\'t \"normal\" they are lazy...I weigh more than I did when I was at the lowest point of ED (I don\'t think it will ever completely go away), but I stay thin by eating healthy, and exercising 5 days a week...and I feel great! I never had enough energy to work out when I wasn\'t eating...I am way healthier now...I really hope you DO start making those positive choices. GOOD LUCK!

the problem in America is that the norm (eating fried foods etc) ISNT \"normal\"...so ur right being normal, and eating wat the majority of americans eat is not exactly a good goal! but being healthy? awesome goal girl!
and as far as the pulse goes, i wouldnt trust the one at walmart...first of all ur prob right that it couldnt read it well cuz its made for the arms of all the \"normal\" americans out there! but i always feel like those things are inaccurate...the BP monitors, the scales in the health food stores...u can always take ur own pulse tho, of course i always tend to get dif numbers even just 5 minutes apart but maybe u are better at it than i am!

When good parents go bad..... I have done similar behavior myself so it\'s hard to judge others, but I\'m trying. I\'m sometimes amazed at how my kids are doing so well, like it must have had nothing to do with me. I\'m glad I haven\'t screwed them up beyond repair. Normal? Whatever that is I think it\'s the last thing I want. Screw Normal XOXO
