i swear to all that is holy in this world...if ONE MORE person compares trying to quit smoking with recovering from an ED i am going to frikin pop a cap in someone's ass!!! YES, they are both unhealthy addictions......but that is where the likeness stops! let's count the ways that they differ shall we? cigarettes are not needed to live...food is......so while cigarette smokers can just walk away and still be able to live...those of us with EDs have to face food everyday whether we like it or not!......also, do people fail to see that there are patches and gum available to help smokers quit? well c'mon! WHERE THE HELL ARE THESE ED PATCHES SO THAT I CAN QUIT TOO!?!? give me a piece of big red! i'll chew that and get over my anorexia! god some people are so ignorant i swear!well with that said......in the book i was reading, the woman who thought she was dying made a list of some things she wanted to achieve before she died...i think that this is something that we all should do so that we can keep our minds set to do some things so that we dont regret not having done them! so here are just some of the things i would like to do before i die....and im sure i will think of more along my life journey....1) fall in love2)skydive3) travel4) adopt a kid5) have a career that i love6) own a black mercedes benz!7) recover from my ED 8) scuba dive9) para sail10) learn how to tango, salsa, and ballroom dance11) have my fortune told12) go on a blind date13) see nyc at xmas time14) see all of the worlds 7 wonders (ive seen niagara falls already numerous times)there are more im sure......but i shall add them as i think of them!my weight isnt doing so hot......down 1/2 a lb more.....i know 1/2 a lb isnt much...but that 1/2 a lb keeps going til it's 10 lbs.....sometimes i feel so helpless.....but i KNOW what to do......i also know that i cannot and will never get my list done if im in and out of hospitals my whole life!!!!

I agree. Same with alcohol or drugs. You don\'t need to make peace with something that will kill you. You need to make peace with food, like you said and for me its a battle most every day.

I totally agree with you. Food addiction isn\'t like drug or alchol addiction either like some people think...you can totally lay off those things, but not food. I think eating disorders and food addictions are waaaaayyy more difficult to recover from than just quitting smoking. Anyway.. I hope you have a great weekend!

I can totally relate to the addiction thing. You can live without the alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, shopping and even sex, but you can not live without food. Stay focused on not letting your ED make that 1/2 pound into more than that.
