Dear Kitty,
ugh, William is driving me INSANE. He is obnoxious, rude, racist, childish - I just can't stand him at all at the moment. And the worst thing is that he is only like that to me, not to anyone else in our family. Someone get me back to Manchester.
Actually, don't. I don't want to be so far away from Dan again. I stayed at his on the thirtieth; first we sat in his room and watched Lord Of The Rings, and then we did our Christmas presents! He hasn't got all of mine yet apparently, but he did get me a copy of Wall.E, some chocolate wine and some raspberry liqueur. His mum got me presents too, and now I feel quite guilty - I completely wasn't expecting it! She bought me a really pretty tin, a set of notecards, and a book on vintage handbags. Isn't that nice of her? I got Dan an Airfix kit (he's been saying he need a new hobby), some socks (he wears the ones I got him for his birthday every time I go over), some stickers (in-joke), a Snuggie with a TARDIS and the words 'EXTERMINATE' on it (did it with felt), and two DVDs of old cartoons - oh, and a drawing that I did. We went out for drinks with his friend Tom that night because he (Tom) was working on New Year's. We started at the Bell, then moved to Revolution de Cuba - because Tom works there, all our drinks were half price! - and then finally to Delaney's. It was quite a fun night, but I never really know how to act around Tom, so I was glad to get back to Dan's. Mum and Dad picked me up at two, and I went back home to wash my hair and repack my stuff (and to pick up the lemon drizzle cake I'd made to take with us that night).
When I got back to Dan's, we opened the bottle of wine my parents had given him, and then got changed to go to Josh's; it was a black-tie evening! Dan wore a typical dinner suit, and I wore my eighties off-the-shoulder black velvet cocktail dress. Dan said I looked lovely, and we got to Josh's at seven. I felt about twenty-five when we arrived - all dressed up, sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine, listening to Miles Davis and discussing books. We ate at around eight; Josh had made salmon risotto. And when we'd finished, we became less sophisticated and dissolved into a game of Charades. We played Silly Scrabble a little while later, and then the One-Word-Story game. Before the clocks changed, we all stood around to watch it, and Josh said 'we have to say our first word of the new year, before we wish each other all the best, okay?'. We agreed. The clocks changed.
Josh: 'Petrification.'
Dan: 'Audacious.'
Me: 'Barnacles.'
We stayed at Josh's until about two, and then considered staying the night when I fell asleep on the sofa (only a little bit). I'm glad we didn't - I woke up at half eleven the next day, and Dan had already been awake for a while. Apparently I'd been dreaming and he didn't want to wake me up because it was cute; I woke up to him stroking my hair and holding me close. Waking up with him is one of the best ways to wake up, I think. We cuddled for a while, and then he made me a cup of tea. We had been going to go for a walk, but then we decided to watch Tangled - we'd watched 'How To Train Your Dragon' yesterday, and they both reminded me how much I love animated films.
I spent yesterday doing nothing - I've got a cold, and I've hardly any energy at all. Today, though, I went into town to meet Dan. First he showed me a new bookshop, and then we went to the rollerskate shop, and then we went to The Bicycle Shop (not a shop) and ordered a pot of tea. It all felt very grown-up, and I quite like it. We went to GAME and CEX after that, and then spent two hours playing Scrabble in Frank's (drew one, won one). He's coming over tomorrow for tea, and I'm staying at his on Friday. He's also taking me to Sakura the day before I go back to uni, and I'm really looking forward to that.
We 'went further' than we have been, and it surprised me. I didn't feel guilty and horrible and scared - it just felt natural and safe. It may sound cliched, but it honestly just felt normal. It's hard for me to be embarrassed around Dan - not properly embarrassed, anyway. He just makes me feel so safe and comfortable.
Yours,
Chessie
P.S. I got triggered by a few things - tumblr and a TV programme - yesterday for the first time ever. It's scared me. A lot.
