Dear Kitty,
so, Dan arrived on Saturday. I woke up early and spent most of the day cleaning and wondering what to do about HAVING TURNED BRIGHT RED.
Yes, I woke up, and I'd had an enormous allergic reaction to something. I looked like V without the mask. I thought I ought to go and get it sorted at the doctor, so I told Mum, who then put Cecily and Andrew on standby. Cecily decided that she had to see how I was, and she and Andrew took me to the doctor themselves - well, the walk-in NHS clinic in town. I had to wait an hour and a half, but eventually the doctor said 'no, it's definitely an allergic reaction, you've still got a bit of a temperature, you'll be ok, just don't take Ibuprofen any more'. So I can no longer take Ibuprofen. Fantastic. I didn't have time to go back to mine before Dan's train arrived, so I was glad to have finished all my cleaning beforehand. I collected him from the station, and then we walked back to mine with his arm around my waist. We went out to Odder that night, to celebrate our three months of being together, and then spent Sunday morning lying in bed and chatting - waking up next to him again was wonderful!
We went to meet Cecily and Andrew for coffee at half past two, and ended up sitting in the Vienna Coffee House - none of us had been before, and nobody else liked it except me. They do very nice coffee, though, and it's on the way to church. We spent about an hour in there, Dan and Andrew getting to know each other, Cecily and I discussing the wedding, and all of us arguing about music. I dragged Dan around the Christmas markets afterwards, and he didn't mind too much - he thinks that it's sweet when I'm so enthusiastic. I took him to church afterwards - we did Mendelssohn's Psalm 49, and the Nunc from Stanford in G (hurrah!). We had a quiet night in - I think we were both exhausted! - which consisted of us playing Phase 10 (it's 10-11) and watching 'The Artist' while I sewed the buttons back onto his coat. We turned it off halfway through and went to bed, though, because neither of us could manage to stay awake.
I woke up at half nine on Monday, to revise before my test, and tried not to wake Dan up. He woke up to kiss me goodbye before I left, though, and then went back to sleep until about twenty minutes before I got back. We got last week's test results back, and I got 89.6% - an alright mark, I suppose, but not as well as I could have done. When I got back to mine, I was shattered, so we went to Starbucks on our way into town. I took him to Affleck's Palace, and we wandered around it for hours, looking at vintage telephones and trying on masks. We had Coke Floats in the cafe upstairs - very fifties, I thought - and then we looked around the comic book shops and a vintage shop before heading home again. I cooked for us, and then we went back to Odder for the pub quiz with my friend Stef and her boyfriend Nav. We came third (out of five), but we had such a fantastic time that we could have come last and it wouldn't have mattered. We've decided that we all have to do it again sometime.
Dan and I walked around Oxford Road for a little while afterwards, smoking and talking, and then went back to mine. We had a really 'deep' conversation about religion and faith, and then went to bed. My alarm went off two hours before we had to leave, but we spent so long talking in bed that we had to run all the way to the station. Our goodbye was very quick, but they're better like that, I think. I've spent the last two days doing the same things as ever - studying, writing, and listening to music. Dan brought a memory stick full of music with him, and it's got 'I Trawl The Megahertz' on it - so I couldn't be much happier with my iTunes right now.
It was a wonderful weekend, Kitty, and I can't wait to see him again. It's not too long to wait, which is good, and I'm looking forward to seeing William as well (though goodness knows why).
Yours,
Chessie
