Dear Kitty,
Dan and I have basically just spent the weekend together. He met me at eleven yesterday for our day out, and we headed for Frank's straight away. We stayed in there for a couple of hours - I beat him at Scrabble - and then he took me to see 'Brave' at Cinema City, which is a really cute indie cinema. Then we spent a few hours walking around all the bookshops we could find, and finally we sat in The Birdcage for another hour or so, and he taught me how to play Backgammon (he won). He took me back to his at about six, and we sat on his bed and listened to music for ages, and he played me the guitar (he's really good). Tea was at eight, but it took us a while to decide what we were going to have, and then even longer to fight over who was going to pay (I won). I met his flatmates when we were doing the washing up, but I was really shy to start with and I think they might have thought I'm really odd. Everyone else started to arrive soon after that, and then Dan and I spent the rest of the night laughing in a corner of the room, playing 'Never Have I Ever' and teasing each other, and occasionally going outside for a cigarette. We had a proper DMC - an actual one, and we told each other so much. We stayed outside for a while at one point, just holding hands and chatting, and he said so many things that meant a lot; I won't write them. They are too precious and new to be written, and they're still making me smile when I think of them. I left at half two, and he watched the taxi until it was out of sight - the same way he always does when we say goodbye.
It all sounds so flat and dull when I write it down, but we were so happy and giggly - I just can't seem to project things like that when I write to you, Kitty.
As for today - well, I woke up early and slightly hungover, so I was awake four hours before he arrived. He turned up at twenty past twelve, and we played Phase 10 until lunch (I won again). After lunch, we watched 'V For Vendetta', because he'd never seen it and it is one of my all-time favourite films, and then we played Swingball in the garden until it was time for him to go.
I'm enjoying this relationship. We're not really that into the 'physical' side of things, except for hand-holding and hugging, which makes us look sickeningly coupley but I love it. We're so similar,, even though he's twenty one and is a graduate, and I don't know if my parents approve - but for once, I don't care. It is my life, and they won't control it if I don't want them to.
Katie and Charlotte are coming tomorrow, and I can't wait to see them. They're going to meet Dan, of course - their approval matters more than that of my parents in situations like this.
Oh, and I quit my job on Wednesday. Basically I got fed up and too tired, so hurrah for holidays and more days like today and yesterday.
Yours,
Chessie
P.S I told Dan I was bi last night while I was drunk. He asked 'why would this be an issue?' and I said 'well, there's lots of prejudice and things out there against bisexuals'. He said 'sod that' and toasted me.
