Dear Kitty,
so much has happened! Katie arrived last Friday, and then went to sleep on my bed while I went to work. Charlotte and Megan arrived at eight, and then we stayed in a watched a film because I was shattered. On Saturday, we all went vintage shopping in the Marais - some marvellous finds! I got a black velvet dress, a blue dress like the one in 'The Sound of Music', a green shirt-skirt-waistcoat-thing, a really horrible dress that I'm going to turn into something else, a super cute top, and a dress that was hideous and 80s but is now very 40s, now that I've sorted the collar/neckline/sleeves. We went out that night, all the way up to Montmartre, and drank A LOT - so much that Megan threw up all over the Metro on the way back. Katie looked after her - Charlotte and I can't stand sick - and I didn't bother going to church in the morning because I was shattered. Megan left at around half ten, so the others and I went to Chinatown (it's the only place that's open on a Sunday) and got lost in the shopping centre and went out for Thai food at lunch. We didn't go out that night - instead we sat in my room and played the Sopio drinking game. Monday was spent in Les Halles, and then - MORE ALCOHOL.
We drank: something apple flavoured, a can of sake, a bottle of rum, a bottle of vodka, the remainder of the Cosmopolitans and four cans of Red Bull. Which would have been fine if we hadn't invited Guillaume down halfway through and then played 'Never Have I Ever' with him - he still hasn't stopped teasing me, but it's so funny that I don't mind. I slept in the bathroom that night. Katie left on Tuesday, and we went to Montmartre before she did to see Sacre Coeur and St Pierre and the fabulous shoes that they sell. Charlotte and I stayed a bit after, and then we went back to mine because I had work. The rest of the night was spent watching 'Singin' In The Rain', and then she left the next day.
I went upstairs at half eleven, when MP came back - only to find that Etienne had been invited across the road for lunch, so I went back downstairs until two. Work has been easy recently - except this morning, when I had to take him to school and even MP looked scared when I came upstairs. I was going to have to work tomorrow and Monday, but Laurent rang just before I went to church and said that I had to pack a suitcase for Etienne tomorrow because they were flying all the boys down to Corsica til Monday night - hurrah! Freya arrives tomorrow arvo - and there's so much to show her too!!! The Marais on Monday, I think, and Chinatown on Tuesday - and on Sunday, we've been invited to an Easter lunch by my choir, so we're going to that because nothing else is open, and especially won't be on Easter Sunday.
The service tonight was lovely - very moving, and a real traditional Good Friday mass. I'd never been to a Good Friday service before, and it was truly beautiful.
Also I dreamt about Alex yesterday after I watched 'The Secret Life Of Bees' and suddenly remembered that we'd watched it together over the summer. In my dream, he came back and basically confessed to me all over again - it won't happen, but it was so lovely. I also dreamed that I had to sing top Es with Emma in choir - I'm fairly sure that I was actually singing them because I woke myself up.
Yours,
Chessie
P.S did you know that my scales are almost a whole kilo off? I weighed myself upstairs on MP's scales after she left for Corsica, because she has nice accurate ones, and I was 0.8kg less than I had been ten minutes before down here. Hm.
