Dear Kitty,
I was watching 'Chobits' just now, and a thought suddenly came rushing into my head:
                             I really miss Hector.
God knows why this has decided to strike now - it's half twelve, and I really ought to be going to bed. Nevertheless, the thought is now firmly in my head, and I've realised that I really must meet up with him soon. I want to do our handshake again.
I went out this weekend with a group of other au pairs, and we (sans Lara) went to a bar after we'd been out for dinner. It was great, actually - three Canadians, a Dutch girl, a German girl, a Croatian girl and me, and we had a whale of a time. After a while, two of the Canadians and the Dutch girl left because one of them didn't feel too well, but the remainder of us stayed in the bar for a good two hours afterwards. And, oh, the people who chatted us up. There was one very strange Asian guy who developed and obsession with the Croatian girl (and whose friend kept passing us hilarious notes with tips on how to get rid of him), a few random French guys, and one French guy who, upon discovering that I was the only one who could speak French (I speak it fluently when I'm drunk - Katie already knows this about my German), latched onto my arm and would not leave me alone for the rest of the night. It was all very entertaining, and he even bought me a drink later (merely because I went to get one by myself, he followed me, and as soon as I got my purse out, he said 'non, non, je vais rester un vrai gentleman'). We also found out that there's a karaoke bar just down the road - so that's where we're going this Saturday. Afterwards, the other three decided they wanted ice cream, and one of my friends bought me one (but to be honest, I was so plastered by this point that I didn't care about the calories). I was late to my rehearsal the morning after, but the night was totally worth it.
This Sunday, I'm going to Caen with the choir for a carol service. I'm really excited, actually - six days til home, and a week til my birthday! A week - oh, and I get to see Alex in a week too. *smile smile*
One last thing: William's decided he's going to leave Oundle. It's never been the right place for him - and I don't think it was right for Cecily and I either, but oh well. He'll be much happier somewhere else, and that's what's important. (To any Oundelians reading this, MENTION NOTHING TO ANYONE as the school doesn't know yet)
Yours,
      Chessie
P.S One of the French guy's friends spoke verlan to me - and I understood it! Thank you, 'La Haine' - the only time I will ever say those words. He also spoke 'le verlan de verlan' - and then I got a bit confused, so he translated it to normal verlan.
