ah, today was SO much better than expected! Etienne has actually been fine for most of it - usually he's a nightmare when he's tired, but today it was all fine until we did his homework (which took two hours. The phrase 'like getting blood out of a stone' springs to mind)
We walked past a Nativity display on the way back from 'le sportsclub', and Etienne asked me what it was, so I told him the Nativity story on the way home. He loved it, and listened all the way through - which surprised me, because usually he stops me, and says 'yes, and then the evil Knife Fairy appeared...' and carries on himself. (This happened when I told him about the Marie Celeste)
I found myself doing a 'Dad' on the way back from Squash - i.e being unbearably cheerful to try and cheer someone else up. I felt rather proud when it worked - we marched all the way up the hill, and then I taught him how to halt.
All in all, a good day. Sadly, I've an 08:15 start tomorrow - but then I'm off out with a friend to Chinatown. Hurrah! Smiles all round.
