Dear Kitty,
so, yeah. Yesterday was a bad day.
Well, the beginning of yesterday was a bad day. I read somewhere that weighing yourself every other day/once a week is better than weighing yourself every day, so I missed out Friday. I'm not planning on doing it again after discovering that I weighed half a kilo more than I had done on the day before. Luckily, I somehow dropped 3/4 of a kilo overnight (I think it was ice skating).
So the beginning was bad. It got better after I'd been upstairs for an hour, and my day ended with an hour of running around with a blanket tied around my shoulders, pretending to hang upside down and occasionally shouting 'I VANT TO SUCK YOUR BLOOOOD' at Etienne. He thought it was a great game. I also spent an hour telling him Greek myths and all about the Bermuda triangle. I am apparently a fountain of useless but oddly compelling information (but only if you're six and a half). I was let off work an hour early, which made me very happy, and I spent the next two hours watching 'The Supersizers Go...' - Sue and Giles should get married. Well, should if Sue Perkins weren't a lesbian and Giles didn't have a girlfriend.
There's a late-night session at the rink every Saturday, so Lara and I went along and had a great time. We did get very lost on the way there, but it was marvellous all the same. I'm now consistently landing my waltz jumps - next up: spirals!
Church this morning was amazing - it was a confirmation service, and we did all of Wesley's 'Ascribe Unto The Lord' - one of the best pieces ever written, along with 'Blest Pair' and 'And I Saw A New Heaven', and a fair few others. I sat with Will and Joe, and we couldn't stop laughing for most of it - did you know that Pontius Pilate is called 'Ponce' in French? Aside from that, I've spent the rest of today recovering from my ELEVEN DAY WEEK in bed. Etienne keeps knocking on my door, and if I don't answer, he walks in and gets cross. If I do answer, he walks in, plays with all my stuff, and then refuses to leave. It's only happened twice, though - the second time, Marie-Pascale came down too and asked if I could look after him for an hour and a half. I told her I had plans for this afternoon (which wasn't a total lie, as I do: to stay in bed and watch the rest of 'Supersizers'). I'm not sure why she and Laurent need me at the weekends; they don't tend to have people over. I think I agree with Julia - whenever they ask you to work at the weekend and don't seem to leave the house, it's because they actually have a secret bondage chamber upstairs. Which is not something I want to think about.
So yesterday went from 0 to 10 in about ten hours.
Yours,
Francesca
