Dear Kitty,
it doesn't look like I'm going to get too much sleep this weekend - I'm getting up early tomorrow for the Manga Expo, and then I've got Nuit Blanche in the evening, and then a service on Sunday morning. This should be interesting...
The choir is wonderful. You wouldn't think that you'd miss simple things, like English humour, or regional accents, or just being able to have a fluent conversation - but I felt so happy after yesterday. We had our first rehearsal on Wednesday, and I got given a solo that I'd NEVER seen before, so I sang that yesterday. It went a bit wrong at the beginning, but was fine afterwards. After the service, we had a party in the vicar's apartment, and it was so nice; I met heaps of really lovely people, and the vicar himself is simply lovely. I may be the youngest there, but I feel so accepted - the young people are friendly, and the old people have adopted me as the new 'Mary', who was 17 and in the choir last year, so I'm feeling very loved right now. It's truly wonderful.
I still miss everyone more than I can say, but I'm seeing some of them in three weeks - Katie, Charlotte and hopefully Freya, and then I might zip off to see Alex too afterwards. Oh, I miss him - I've been having massive doubts about it recently; not because I don't adore him, but because of the distance. He's such a sweetie, and totally amazing, but - well, God has a plan, and I know he'll do what's best for me and him.
I've been feeling hideous recently, though, despite all the new-found love. I've just cleared out my shelves because they're full of rubbish, so I'm going to do a proper diet from now on. Four weeks of leniency is bad - VERY bad, so I'm going to do my best to be strict with myself. I will regain my self-control and lose weight.
I am happy, Kitty - or I am usually, at least.
Yours,
Francesca
P.S. Something happened the other day that's worried me a bit, but it hasn't happened since, so I think it's ok. Also I had a minor relapse earlier this week, but it was only tiny, so it's fine.
