Dear Kitty,
this is a bit like Oundle but better - well, better in some ways, so the freedom and general awesomeness, but sucks because I miss my friends.
Julia and I sat on my bed and watched 'How I Met Your Mother' until one last night, and it felt like I was back at school. We went to the supermarket at nine to buy sugar and got the giggles AGAIN, so we look like English idiots whenever we go out anywhere together now.
I went to the Champs myself yesterday and bought myself some shoes in H&M because I didn't bring anything I can wear with a dress. I was going to wear them tomorrow, but they seem less sensible now because the event is now a picnic rather than a lunch (that sentence makes no sense if you're not in my head). Basically, there's an au pair picnic happening tomorrow at Monceau so we can all get to know each other, but it was originally going to be a proper formal lunch - so I was going to wear a new dress, but have decided on blue coat, jeans, pink shirt and boots. I'm taking my bento box with me, so I need to go shopping in the morning.
We moved house today as well, so I no longer live in Suffolk. The homesickness is much better now than it was (usually), and I'm feeling happy. Paris just seems to have that effect - it's just so damn cool here!
Also there are scales in my bathroom, so I've been able to weigh myself every day; I've lost almost half a kilo since I arrived!
I miss everyone so much. Alex especially - and I'm worried about how we're going to make it through the year. I really REALLY like him, so...well, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be, and if it's not, then I'll wait until I find what is.
Unless it's the guy on the bike.
Yours,
     Francesca
P.S. Etienne cried today because he fell over, so I gave him a sweet and told him it was magic. It worked - he put it in his mouth, then looked at my Peter Rabbit and just stopped crying. How do kids do that? Oh, he's difficult - but he was so damn cute when I put him to bed. I taught him how to play 'Ready, Steady, Tidy', and we sang 'The Day I Went To Sea' all the way to the park.
'We're going this way, that way, forwards and backwards, over the Irish Sea...'
