Dear Kitty,
'confusing' isn't even the word to describe the last few days.
I've been thoroughly bored since I got back from Alex's, and, as a result, have fallen back into old habit. This is good; I've learned twenty hiragana characters, watched ten episodes of a new anime ('Chobits' - it's cute, but definitely more seinen than shoujo) and learned a fair few new Japanese words. It's nice to be able to do what I like and not have to worry about going back to school or concentrating on just four subjects. I'm finally able to learn the things I really do want to study: Japanese, Italian, Hebrew, BSL, Braille and ASL. Is that too many languages? If so, I think I'll only actively do the first three, and pick up on the other three when I want to. My only worry for the next year is forgetting all my German.
I miss Alex - and other friends too. God only knows how I'll survive the first few weeks of Paris. But at least I'll be out of this country - and able to start over with who I want to be.
Speaking of 'who I want to be', I'm getting a haircut on Monday before going to see my aunt and uncle in Wiltshire. I'm getting a side fringe - after much deliberation, I think it's worth a go. I'm basically going for the nicest Japanese style I can find and copying it. Isn't this exciting? I only hope that my cousins will still be able to recognise me.
I fly out in nineteen-and-a-half days - and I can't wait.
Yours,
Francesca
