Dear Kitty,
I decided that my last few weeks here were going to be really good.
Instead, I've felt more lonely, scared and upset than I have in a long time - although I will admit that last night was one of the best nights I've had in a long time. I'm stuck between two years; mine, and the year below - and the truth is that I don't fit into either. I'm too young to do whatever my year's doing, so I can't go to the pub, and our housemistress trusts me even less than she does the others. They treat me like a child and disagree with me over everything. As for the year below, I've got friends in it, but recently I've felt more and more like an outsider. It's like we've just got less in common than we did before, and I feel like I'm just being too clingy and getting on their nerves.
I'm very cross with Georgie, because she's suddenly become a 'social smoker' (since yesterday). I don't really know why I'm so cross; she's perfectly entitled to go off and do whatever she likes - but I think she knows I'm totally anti-smoking, and I personally think she's far too young for half of what she gets up to.
Joe seems to be ignoring me. This could be a problem if we're going to the ball together.
I'm just frustrated, Kitty. This is the fourth school Saturday night in a row that I've ended up crying on. I can't wait until uni.
Yours,
      Francesca
