Dear Kitty,
I worry about William. He's decided that he is in love.
All I know about this girl is that they met on Third Form Field Weekend, she comes from Newcastle, she's called Alicia - and she self-harms.
According to William, she did it while they were on the 'phone yesterday, and then she stopped talking. William - much like any other Smith - panicked, and assumed she'd died. Ducky found him very upset in the corridor and told me to call him. It turns out that it's so serious that William has cried, called Dad and spoken to Mr Symes. Alicia called him back forty minutes later and told him that she'd fainted.
It's brought a lot to my attention, really. I still think of William as my stupid little baby brother - and, admittedly, he is still a bit dim. But the only time I've ever known him to be involved with a girl was when he was with Charlotte Hone, and it's strange for him to tell me that Alicia 'is the girl that I love'. It's even weirder to realise that he's going through things that I've sort of gone through. But the weirdest thing? He's always so happy and carefree. How did I never pick up on this?
So now I'm taking him to Beans to cheer him up. I'm sure Fourth Form was never this complicated.
He did make Chapel hilarious yesterday. I'll miss him next year.
Yours,
       Francesca
