Dear Kitty,
what a strange half-term. I'm talking to people I wasn't before; I've bought something I didn't think I'd buy; I've argued with people I don't usually argue with; people have died, and people have changed. It's actually quite sad to think that this is the last time I'll ever be going back to Oundle as a pupil - and also quite frightening.
I must apologise to one of my friends - I may have told a teensy lie during an argument, but it's really really shallow so I don't think it counts really (and I didn't really want him to get cross with/pour custard on me). I'm setting myself back 5%.
I went busking these hols to buy the Sims 3 (planned), a bikini (unplanned - I wanted a one-piece), a sewing pattern (unplanned - a 60s cover-up for the bikini) and some fabric (unplanned - for the sewing pattern). I've also got a really nice new concert dress, but it's a bit - well, I think Tora has the same one, and I don't think I can pull it off, personally. I'll give it a go, though. Could be nice for a friend's 18th - which is, incidentally, why I was looking for a new swimsuit in the first place.
A family friend died today, so the atmosphere in the house is subdued. Dad's in Ireland, but Mum was more affected because he was the the husband of her singing teacher, and we look after them a bit because she has really bad Alzheimer's. I hardly knew him, and neither did William or Cecily, but it's still very sad.
Aside from that, I have two teeth growing in at the back of my mouth, and they're a real pain because anything that touches them makes them really itchy, and then they hurt if you absent-mindedly chew your pen or something. I don't think I'm going to be able to have gum for a while - oh dear.
Well, time for bed - I've an exam tomorrow. I'm starting to regret two things: choosing to retake it (because I don't actually need to now) and not revising. It's only French, though - so if I just learn some vocab about advertising and drugs, I'll be fine (*hope hope*)
Ah, study leave - how I have missed thee!
Yours,
      Francesca
P.S. Dad's hardly here this summer - he's going to India (hurrah!) for seven weeks (damn!). I wouldn't mind so much, because it means I get the house to myself for a bit and I'm having some music friends over, but I think it means I won't get to say goodbye before I go to Switzerland.
P.P.S. Did I mention I have a job in Zurich? Well, I do. I have to look after someone else's 3.5 year old daughter (and possibly their newborn too) for a year. I'm very excited, personally, and a bit nervous. I'll just have to hope she doesn't choke on a breadstick like Cecily did. Anyone know the Heimlich manoeuver?
P.P.P.S. Is that spelt right? It looks like it has too many vowels.
