Dear Kitty,
a while back, I watched a programme with Howard Goodall on it. It was something like 'Howard Goodall's Great Choirs' or something like that. The last episode was all about the Christ Church Cathedral choir in Oxford, and it showed quite a lot of the town.
And I didn't remember ANY of it.
It's been driving me mad! I looked up all the places in Oxford where I used to live and go to and I couldn't remember a thing! It was like looking at somewhere I'd never been before.
I know my memory's awful, but I want to be able to remember things like this. Everyone else I know can remember all their childhood and all their old houses and friends and schools - and I just can't. It doesn't get to me usually, but every so often I get a really tiny flash of something - and then I can't place it. The most annoying thing is when my family is all talking about Oxford or something and Dad and I just sit there looking completely blank. Actually, he remembers more than I do, but not that much more. I don't actually know why I can't remember these things, and I'm sure that if I could, I wouldn't want to - but right now, I would like to have a full picture of what happened then, rather than tiny little snippets.
On the bright side, I recorded a song today for the NMS cd. Oh, the excitement!
Yours,
         Chessie Darlington (heh)
