Dear Kitty,
            well, I've just got back from an AMAZING night out! Maddy's 18th party, to be precise. There were speeches and jokes and psychoanalyses and loads of other things!
              We went to a hotel not too far from here and had a meal together. At the end, Lou stood up and gave one of the funniest speeches ever, and then Maddy did, and then her father did, and then she opened all the presents that we'd got her. It's all been terrific fun, and I'd love to do it all again.
I just thought I'd write this all down before I forget it.
