My dear Kitty, Sometimes it's funny to see how everyone else writes their entries: Tom does them as a letter, and usually has something philosophical to write about; Freya does them as an ordinary diary; Fraser seems to write like it's a story; Katie's are very interesting and completely different to anything else; Isla's are just so...'Isla' - there isn't really another way to describe them; Hector's are either completely random or poetic; as for me, mine are so confusing that you can only really describe them as 'muddled'. We've technically been on holiday for twenty four days, and I'm not as bored as I would usually be. Admittedly, there isn't much to do here but skate, read and jigsaws, but it's really rather nice to relax for a change. At school, I'm usually completely on edge and generally stressed and tense, but here it's just nice to get away from it all and not have to worry quite as much. It's such a great feeling; not having to wake up to a silly bell and put on your uniform. At school, everything seems to be run according to that bell; the bell's rung, everyone downstairs - the bell's rung, everyone back upstairs - the bell's rung, everyone out - the bell's rung, everyone go to bed...it's gets a little dull after a while. Here, it's a really great feeling not to have to listen to that constant - and flat - ringing. To be quite honest, I haven't felt this relaxed in a long time, but that usually wears off as soon as I go over the bridge into Oundle, or as soon as I see someone I'm not related to - heck, it's usually gone when I leave the house. Oundle's all about image, image, image - the right clothes, the right hobbies, the right 'clique', the right subjects, the right pencil case (ok, maybe not that far) It starts to bug me after a while. You're automatically categorised; the 'popular' people and the 'unpopular' people. That's the problem; you get off to the wrong start or you make one mistake and nobody ever forgets it. It's worse in the junior years; people can't remember what they did yesterday, but they all seem to be able to remember that silly little thing you said on the first day of First Form. Stupid, isn't it? The thing is, though, even when I do get home, it's slightly unnerving not having a routine anymore. More often than not, I do find myself making a routine for the duration of the holidays. But that's just me being weird. I've just written another load of drivel, and you'll get another one in my diary soon (I have a new diary - ok, it's not actually a diary, it's more a book for writing letters to people about stuff that I want to tell them but could never actually say face-to-face...yes, I'm strange, I know.) I've got to stop ranting about Oundle (hang on, have I ever done this before? I hope I haven't, for your sake) Anyway, I'll stop boring you - I think I say that every time. Oh well. I will eventually. Ever yours, Francesca
