7 years too long, I still miss him.
this time of year is always particularly hard for me. back in May 2006, my grandfather lost his battle with cancer, only 4 months after being diagnosed. I've learnt just how cruel this illness is. I often think about the time we still could have had with him. he wouldn't be buried in a cemetery, he'd be alive here with us. it's one of the hardest illnesses anyone can deal with, not only for the patient but for the family too. I only saw him once when he was in hospital. I was only 11 at the time. he looked like his usual self but I couldn't understand why he was so tired. he was diagnosed around this time of year. to hear that someone you loved to death has cancer is heartbreaking particularly for a child. it's coming up to 7 years since his death and I miss him every single day. silly little things are upsetting me at the moment. I can't remember his voice or how he would write or even how he looked. I know he suffered but my family's lives would be so much easier today if he was still here. I even pray for him now, hoping he's still here. sometimes I think I can feel him with me as stupid as that sounds. I'm just thankful I have the rest of my family with me now and that his pain has gone.
